we only stayed the one night in Cooktown and our friends who live in Cairns booked the hotel on a whim and we had no idea what we were going to, driving through Cooktown looking at the other hotels, motels we expected to be staying at a nice, but rather run down place, when we arrived at the hotel we...

We enjoyed our stay. It is centrally located. You can walk easily everywhere in town. The staff were very helpful and able to answer most questions. Our room was clean and all we needed for our stay. A down side would beat was very dark, very little light, lots of dark wood and a dark colored paint. It didn't affect...

This hotel is surprisingly good, from the friendly and professional greeting we received when we arrived through to the neat comfortable rooms, beautiful billabong pool and the stylish bar and restaurant. The wait staff were excellent along with the great quality meals. It is also close to the main tourist sites in Cooktown.

We loved this hotel. The rooms were large, ours overlooked the pool area which is set out beautifully. It is easy walking distance to the waterfront were all the statues and monuments are. The lady at the hotel desk was helpful, giving us a good map, and telling us about the Groper feeding that was happening at 6pm at the...

We found this place last minute through trip advisor and was not disappointed! Wonderful service, beautiful modern rooms and relaxing pool. Great night stay. Free and fast wifi which was a blessing after camping in remote places. Would highly recommend!

From our check at reception to cocktails in the bar we found the staff to be friendly, efficient and helpful. The rooms, which appeared to be newly renovated, were clean and well appointed - in fact the hotel facilities were very good. Our double room with balcony overlooked the tropical lagoon pool and BBQ area and an absolute plus is...

Set around a tropical garden, which includes a swimming pool, and located in Cooktown's main street, the Sovereign Resort Hotel had all we needed during our recent three night stay. We chose a Deluxe room that, although a bit more expensive, was spacious with separate sleeping and living areas and a place to sit on the balcony. The room was...

I stayed for a week whilst doing a course in town. Service was second to none. I was dropped at the training centre each day by the courtesy bus. Food at the restaurant was of a high standard. Everything I asked for was not a problem and even after I checked out, I was given a room for two hours...

A wonderful place to stay in Cooktown. Very friendly and attentive staff, excellent food and top accommodation. Right in the middle of town so it's close to everything. The staff is a wonderful mix of local and overseas. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. Couldn't fault the place.

Clean rooms. Pool was beautiful. It's not fancy, but the bathroom was modern, and it was comfortable for a short stay. Being directly opposite the RSL and Bowling clubs was a bonus. We didn't eat any meals in the restaurant- prices were high compared to other options in town. Staff were helpful and friendly. Be warned- no lifts, so if...
