We could not recommend Licuala Lodge more highly. Sue and Mike (mine hosts) made our stay very special with their very personal approach. In particular their invitation to share a drink with them on their balcony one evening and Mikes beautiful guided tour of his garden. Mind you first place by a nose must go to Sue's excellent breakfast. The...

Hi Digbyass - Sue is over the moon that she came first. Always happy to solve the world's problems over a glass or two, and the guided garden tours are becoming very popular. All the best Mick and Sue

We have not long returned from a family holiday in Australia, during which we were lucky to have spent the last 6 days staying in this beautiful location. It's clear to see that Mick and Sue want to offer their guests the very best of stays and work very hard to ensure that the accommodation, grounds and scrumptious breakfasts are...

My husband and I stayed at Licuala Lodge whilst visiting family who were staying in Mission Beach. We definitely picked a great place to stay. Mick and Sue were superb hosts and made us feel really welcome throughout our stay. The lodge was set amongst the most beautiful tropical garden, and visited daily by a family of Cassowaries. The pool...

Spent 28 days in Australia and 4 of them at Licuala Lodge. Without doubt this was the best accommodation of the whole trip. The owners Sue and Mike could not have treated us better. The Lodge is located in a stunning tranquil tropical garden with a lovely landscaped pool. The food provided daily for breakfast was fit for royalty and...

Hi Ronald - many thanks for your review. The lovely man at the visitor centre was in fact Ray, not Roy - but I'm sure he doesn't mind the name change :-) Glad you enjoyed your stay with us and that you got to see our cassowaries. All the best Mick and Sue

One of my goals this trip was to see a cassawary in the wild. The roadsigns around Mission Beach are full of warnings to look out for cassawaries, yet we didn't see a one until we came to Licuala Lodge where three were in the yard as we drove in! They returned the following morning during breakfast and gave us...

Hi MtRainierDave - glad you managed to see cassowaries in the wild. We are lucky to have several cassowaries that roam around the rainforest of our property. Glad you enjoyed the brekky, and yes we do have lots of local knowledge including what to do in the Atherton Tablelands and on the road to Townsville. Love to all in sunny...

The hosts at Licuala Lodge were very welcoming. Our room was very modest, small, but clean. It would have been nice to have air conditioning. There is a 5 charge for Wi-Fi and it is a very weak signal. Breakfast was amazing with lots of choices and a wide variety of tropical fruits.

Hi Samantha - many thanks for the review. In Mission Beach the strength of the internet signal can be affected by the weather at times. But we are having it all upgraded to fibre optic in the early part of 2017 - so fingers crossed. And free Wi-Fi for all from now :-) Love and kisses to all in sunny...

We have visited the lodge 3 times now; first in 2010 and twice this year having moved to Australia - it's a perfect place to chill out for the weekend (we have also sent several of our expat friends here).
