Possum Valley was our best accomodation on a 4 weeks Australia trip. The Blackbean cottage at the creek is huge with full equipped kitchen. The old building is deliberately basic and a downtime from rush and modernity. Paul - the owner - is very helpful and friendly and has a good kowledge about wildlife. The grounds are remote in the...

Hubby and I absolutely loved our overnight stay and the highlight was seeing a family of platypus frolicking in the lake as we sipped on our morning tea. I had specifically chosen this accommodation based on the reviews here and agree that it is rustic and a down to earth retreat from modern life. It feels more isolated than it...

Possum cottages is about as different as you can get in North Queenslands Atherton Tablelands. Rustic recycled wood cottages powered by an owner built hydro-electric waterfall driven generator sit in interesting rainforest near the highest point in the Tablelands. The pool room rafters are home to some very laid-back possums, and the forest seems to be home to just about...

We spent a week (April 2015) at Possum Valley with family and friends occupying both cottages. Age range of the group was 12 to 67. It was a wonderful week. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The kids had a great time in the games room, exploring the rainforest, rowing on the dam and watching the animals. The adults were able to relax...

Aw, shucks.

One week is never enough so we have always booked a year in advance. The cottage is rustic but comfortable and at one with nature. The brochure is quite clear that this is not five star accommodation and bugs, Possums, platypus and wildlife will allow you to share their habitat without complaint! On our last trip we discovered the sauna...

Stayed here early October for only 1 night which is my biggest regret of the trip, I wish we could have stayed longer! I really enjoy getting away from the rat race and I enjoy a bit of bird watching, and this place was a real treat. Paul the manager/ receptionist/ cleaner/ owner met us right near "reception" and gave...

Stayed in Blackbean for five nights. Cosy, comfortable and well equipped. Saw a multitude of wildlife off the deck, Tree Kangaroo included. Splendid isolation, bush walking tracks, DIY sauna. Unbelievably great value.

We spent 3 nights at Black Bean cottage and felt a million miles away from the everyday world. The cottage looked like it was about to be reclaimed by the forest but was actually very comfortable, roomy and well equipped. The creek flowing past the veranda, complete with platypus, was a delight to relax by. We saw all kinds of...

This place was fully booked for the weekends but we did manage to get it for one friday. It was paradise. We are SO glad that this place fell into the hands of the current owner before the bulldozers moved in. If you are looking for hotel accommodation with stars please stay away and go elsewhere, you can see the...

We spent ten peaceful, idyllic days with family here. For a secluded rainforest experience the value of this place is unbelievable. As someone who likes accommodation to be very clean, I was initially a bit concerned about the damp (which obviously is part of being in a rainforest), but as soon as the cottages had been opened up and aired...
