Hyatt Place Columbus/Worthington has received accolades for its amiable staff and pleasant breakfast, although guests have noted room for improvement in areas like pillow size and the need for updates. The value proposition of the hotel sometimes falls short, with certain guests feeling that the room conditions do not justify the price, particularly noting a lack of complimentary water.
While the common areas maintain a standard of cleanliness, some visitors have experienced inconsistency in room upkeep. The hotel's atmosphere is generally well-regarded, with spacious rooms and welcoming shared spaces, yet service quality has seen occasional lapses.

Detailed Reviews
My husband and I arrived at this hotel thinking it was going to be very old and outdated based on the outside; however, we were happy to find that the inside had been completely renovated. Our check in was easy and the woman at the desk was pleasant. She did inform us that the hot breakfast was not being served, but they had a case with limited items that the front desk personnel would serve you for breakfast (packaged muffins and microwave Bob Evans breakfast sandwiches). We ended up going out to breakfast the next morning as we did not even want to bother with the subpar breakfast being offered at the hotel. We went up to our room (booked a king room) and were pleasantly surprised to find that the room had a couch as well. The room was clean. We only had 3 shower towels, generally I expect 4 in a hotel room, however I didn't even bother asking for more. They had two bars of soap and a small bottle of each shampoo and conditioner on the counter. Most hotels I frequent tend to have a small bottle of liquid body wash, as well as packets of make-up remover.
We were in town for a wedding, when we returned late in the evening, the lobby area was loaded with parents surrounded by alcohol. There were kids running around everywhere, and we stood at the elevators waiting more than 5 minutes for an elevator. Once we finally got one, one kid entered with us and we found out that a traveling baseball team was staying at the hotel as they were in town for tournaments. The hotel was very busy and packed, however we had a room at the very end of the hall, so we had no idea once we were in the room. Not the best hotel I've stayed at; I was very disappointed in the breakfast. If we needed to return to Columbus, I would likely not re-book here.

Location: Near I-270. Convenient without road noise. Additional motels within walking distance.
Dining: Eateries close enough to walk to include national chains Bob Evans and Chipolte. Also within walking distance are steak houses, Mexican and Indian eateries.
Rooms: Our room had a sitting room. Lot's of space. Comfortable beds. HVAC noise is noticeable but is not intrusive.
Downside: This location requires you to install the Hyatt app to operate your TV and the exercise machines in the fitness room. If you try to keep your cellphone lean (like I do), then this is an irritant. I didn't like feeling coerced to install the app for basic functions, so I may use one of the nearby motels the next time I'm in that area.

I rate the area and quality of the hotel quite high. Lots of good food and bars in the area. The pet fee was excessive ($75) considering our dog was very clean and well behaved. It also wasn't communicated until we checked out.

We love the Hyatt brand and have stayed usually at Regencies and other Hyatt Place locations. Sadly, this one did not meet the mark. Our room had items from people that previously stayed there, such as the cap of a baby's bottle. There was also cobwebs in the ceiling and a spider in the room which ended up biting my wife a few times at night. At the end of the stay, while I explained this, the person there simply said, "Well, it's like at home. Spiders are everywhere." Which... Yes, but I'm not at home. I'm paying a premium to be somewhere else.
That aside, even though they have a policy that is for everyone to be silent after 10 PM, it is not enforced. There were people and kids running up and down the hall, slamming doors, talking loudly or yelling. When we asked to be moved to another room, I was told that there wasn't any other room.
The breakfast was nice, at least. The location was also nice, even though there were like 5 hotels all around us. It was literally on the same lot as a Quality Inn, so that was weird.
They have new TVs but didn't know how to operate them when it came to adjusting things like hotel mode or the Display settings. When you call from the phone in the room, they don't have a system that tells them who is calling. So if you call down for anything, you'll need to tell them your room number, assuming they remember. We had asked in the morning for soap and conditioner because our bottles were empty (yay, fun), and when we came back in the evening, nothing was sent up or adjusted. I had to call down in hopes of getting extra shower gel and conditioner. They said they'll be right up. An hour later and nothing. I had to call back down, and they explained that they forgot our room number and weren't sure. The person came up after a few minutes and we got two bottles, but now we couldn't even replace the bottles in the shower which meant having to put the bottles somewhere like on the toilet or on the floor because the bottles in the shower have a locking mechanism. Meanwhile over the weekend, we had some breakfast and some kids made some racist remarks towards my wife and the Asian couple near us; even doing the Asian eyes thing.
Honestly, if you're used to the Hyatt brand in other locations like Toronto or Florida or Tokyo, this isn't a hotel that you'd enjoy at all. Honestly just felt like I was at a Comfort Inn with a slight makeover. Mind you, at this point a Comfort Inn would have likely been better.
I'm disappointed.

The hotel room was absolutely disgusting! I don't think I've ever written a hotel review in my life, but this was terrible! The hotel room was filthy. I walked in and there was a bottle cap on the floor, so I questioned if the room had even been cleaned. On the second day, after sleeping in the bed, I found a wet and dirty sticky stain on the sheets. I immediately contacted the front desk to report the issue and request clean linens, and the front desk clerk told me they didn't have any housekeeping staff available to bring the sheets up to my room; but advised me that I could come down to the front desk to pick-up new sheets and put them on my bed myself. That was completely unacceptable. I tried to keep my cool, and express to them that their option wasn't an option for me. The front desk clerk did transfer me to another room. When I got to the new room, the air conditioner didn't work. I didn't mention it to the staff at this point because I was already extremely disappointed and frustrated, and I knew it wouldn't make a difference. This was by far the worst Hyatt hotel I've ever stayed at. Hyatt Place and Hyatt House are the preferred hotels for me and my family when we travel; however, this location did not live up to the Hyatt standards we are used to. In addition, I was very displeased with the customer service and friendliness of the staff and management. Not good at all.. The poor service of the staff is usually a reflection of the leadership. This hotel reminded me of a Comfort Inn or Red Roof Inn motel style facility. The rooms were not clean, the facilities didn't work, and the customer service was bad. I'd probably give this stay a "0". I am a member, and I was very surprised how bad this hotel was. I will not stay at this location the next time I'm in Columbus, Ohio.

Very clean hotel, the room was spacious but the bathroom area was small. This was a minor inconvenience. Grab and go breakfast available. A staff member greeted us upon arrival and when I asked if there was any tea available he made me a cup of tea and told me to come back if I wanted another cup.

We stayed overnight prior to the Columbus Marathon. The staff went above and beyond to ensure breakfast was ready at 5:45am instead of the usual Saturday time of 7am to accommodate runners who needed to eat prior to the race. Additionally, our late checkout became even later when the race took longer than expected, due to a long walk (at a very slow pace!) back to the car. The front desk person unhesitatingly allowed us to keep the room an extra hour, far past the usual checkout time so that I could shower and for us to pack up. I have stayed in large and small hotels where even the smallest accommodation was too much to ask, so I am incredibly grateful to the staff at Hyatt Place for their friendliness, concern, and incredibly positive attitudes. I will be back next year!

I was in Columbus for 6 nights. The overall condition of the property is good. The breakfast was decent but, the lay out of whole breakfast experience is quite cramped. The service we received from housekeeping was almost non-existent. We were told at check in that we would get a light housekeeping one day and than full housekeeping the next throughout our 6 day stay. We received housekeeping the first day and then nothing the next 3 days. I stopped by the 4th day and asked to receive some type of service as we were out of towels and shower gel. Nothing happened that day until we had to ask for service at 8:30 pm when we returned back to our room.

The Hyatt place has the perfect rooms for us when we travel to the Ohio Expo for horse related events and shows. We prefer the rooms over other hotels, the beds are comfortable, we get a room with a sofa bed. The wall separating the bedroom and sofa is nice when I want to read before the rest of my family gets up in the morning. The sink and counter space outside the bathroom has plenty of room for two of us to get ready at the same time. It's a bonus to have coffee and tea in the room since I usually get up before breakfast is served. There's a good Mexican restaurant across the road from the hotel, Starbucks and Chipolte just a couple blocks away. Breakfast has always been good an the staff keeps it well stocked during busy times. The location is a quick drive to the Ohio Expo Center.

This was my first visit ever to Ohio and I stayed at the Hyatt Place hotel in the Worthington area. The Hyatt Place certainly met my expectations. It was clean and well organized. Would have been nice if the room had some, now fairly standard, antiseptic wipes available in the room. I did receive them while staying at other Hyatt properties. I have traveled and stayed in four different hotels this year and this was the first one, at the time of check-in, where they told me their housekeeping schedule. Basically, it's "on demand" and they asked a request given to the front desk the night before, so they are able to properly schedule. Room was quiet, clean and very pleasant for my stay.
I only had a quick breakfast one morning during my three night stay. I went down to the breakfast area in the lobby and they had a selection of cereals, yogurts, biscuit sandwiches and beverages in a refrigerated glass case. You could select what you'd like and if the item needed to be heated, there were two microwaves available. I selected a "Bob Evans" biscuit sandwich with egg & sausage and heated it up for one minute. It was fine. Made me long for the "old days" pre-pandemic, as I'm certain it does everyone! This breakfast, although very limited, was the largest hotel breakfast selection I have seen since traveling this year. Clearly, they are trying very hard to return to some normalcy. Kudos to this hotel management for all of their efforts to try to return to a pre-pandemic standard.

Hello, our outdoor pool is currently open. We are limiting the amount of persons in the pool and recommend keeping interaction with other guests to a minimum.
Hi there, Sorry about the late reply. About 15 minutes straight down High Street with light traffic.
John M asked a question Apr 2017
Sewickley, Pennsylvania, United States9 contributions3 helpful votesI haven't been to this hotel yet but are the elevators still the original Schindler RT elevators as of 2017?
I'm sorry, but I'm not exactly sure if the elevators are original to the building. I've been the GM since last July, and as far as I personally know, nothing has been changed regarding them, since they've always worked well and it'd have been unnecessary.
I can tell you that the hotel opened in June 1994 and Schindler is still the elevator equipment maintenance company we use.
I hope that helps and again, sorry I couldn't be more definitive or exact.
Thanks,
No...the $75 dollars is per stay...not per night. In addition, the $100 cleaning fee is only applicable for stays 7 nights and higher. Hope that answers your question.
Thanks,
