I enjoyed my staying at this hotel. This place is really good and has a very special atmosphere of calm and relaxing. Beautiful view to Umiam lake, fresh air and helpful hotel staff. We ate at the hotel restaurant and enjoyed it.

We had a wonderful stay at Ri Kynjai - relaxing and active at the same time. We hiked to different living root bridges each full day we were there and loved the views across the state. The hotel picked us up at the airport and provided all transportation during our stay. We opted for a package that included the transportation,...

i went with my family for seven days. people generally stay here for a couple of days as it is 25 km away from the shillong city, but i have no regrets being away and for this long in this beautiful hotel. it has a great view of the Umiam Lake and one can easily trek down to the lake...

The hotel has an excellent view of the Umiam Lake and the surrounding hills. Its has beautiful interiors exhibiting the culture and essence of North East India. It is an excellent place to stay if you want to be far away from the maddening crowd in the city.

Stayed here with my friends for a night. We stayed in the superior rooms- and the rooms are huge! The bath is huge and the room has a private verandah to enjoy the view. Dining Staff are attentive and polite- food was good. Breakfast had a decent buffet. My spa visit was marred by poor management- My therapist gave me...

I went with friends for dinner. We enjoyed the amazing view of the lake from the resort in the evening. We had a great bonfire get-together but the only sore thumb was the food. It wasn't terrible. But it was just about passable, something that I believe doesn't quite go well with the glamour of its location. Suggestions: If they...

The best resort to check in.... Located on the banks of the famous barapani lake in a secluded area ... Just a few kilometres before reaching shillong when traveling from guwahati... The cottages design is simply too good and quite huge rooms inside... Bed was good but they can improve the decor of the bathrooms... The raw stone floor in...

We stayed in lake facing cottages and the view was outstanding. The decor of rooms was very tastefully done up. Had a cute fireplace and mezzanine floor with extra bed too. The wifi was pretty good. The bathroom showers need some attention as the water was either freezing cold or scalding hot. Probably the mixer wasn't good. The breakfast was...

True to its name, the resort is serenely located by the picturesque Umiam lake. Interestingly, one cannot have of the resort as you try to approach it. It's discreetly built into the cliff. We had booked the Superior category room. The enchanting lake views offered by the balcony left us speechless. The place is quiet and cut off from the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Ri Kynjai translates into Khasi as land of serenity. This Spa-Resort presiding over the picturesque Umiam lake 16kms from Shillong is aptly named "Ri Kynjai - Serenity By The Lake". The architecture is inspired and derived from the original Khasi thatch huts. Supported on tall circular stilts on the terrace of the hotel blocks are the hybrid cottages derived from vernacular Khasi architecture. These cottages serve to portray the transition from tradition to modernity and have an interpretation of the traditional upturned boat roof done in metallic thatch fused to modern gables. Each cottage has a fireplace in the living/ bedroom area and the mezzanine floor has an additional bedroom arrangement. ... more   less
