The hotel could have been quite good if not for the location and many shortcomings. The hotel is located on a mountain, the last part of the climb is especially steep, making it uncomfortable to climb on foot. A normal beach with services is located 2 km away; no transfer is organized to it and back, as in similar hotels located quite far from the beach. The area is well-groomed and clean, but there is only one elevator, in the main building. We were lucky enough to live in the main building, in a family room, for this the hotel gets a solid 3, otherwise it would have been much less, because everywhere you have to climb uphill. The hotel lobby, oddly enough, is air-conditioned, the restaurant is completely unclimatized, ventilated only by open windows. The food is quite mediocre, the buffet is not very large, for a 4 star hotel there is not enough choice and quality. There was seafood only once during the whole week (!), mussels in tomato sauce, although the hotel is located on an island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea (!). Drinks like Fanta of different types, many with some kind of uncharacteristic taste for Fanta, the wine is mediocre, the cocktails are normal only for the money. There are also a lot of shortcomings in the room, such little things as a tight button in the tank or a hard-to-close door to the toilet, a hole in the floor for draining excess liquid from the shower is located in one place, and water accumulates in a completely different place, right on the floor. There are no facilities for drying swimsuits or towels at all, just chairs on the balcony. An ancient air conditioner in the room, which periodically turns off due to electrical overvoltage, and the same ancient power poles that the electrician had to climb on to tighten the plugs that had flown out due to the overvoltage. It’s a pity I didn’t take a video of this spectacle; there would have been a lot of views on YouTube. The Internet was paid, 2 euros per day, ok, and it was turned off only once and then not for long. The TV is modern, flat, hanging on the wall, everything is ok with it too. The animation was shown only once, for some reason on Monday, we left for Santorini early on Tuesday morning, so we didn’t watch it, I can’t evaluate it. My conclusion is this: despite the obvious efforts on the part of the hotel administration in its current form, today absolutely healthy people who are enthusiastic about overcoming all sorts of difficulties can stay at the hotel. I prefer a more comfortable stay. Yes, I completely forgot - there are terrible waves on the beach almost all the time, so all together it turns out to be more of a sport than a vacation.

My husband and I have recently returned from Semiramis Hotel, where we stayed for 11 nights. We were supposed to stay for 9 nights, but the fire at London Luton delayed us . I can honestly say that no stone was left unturned to help us, not only stay at the hotel, but keep our sea view room. We were on the 5th level. The hotel is built following the contour of a very steep hill. The lift only goes to the 1st floor, and from there, it is in excess of 90 steps to reach the 5th level. Needless to say, we only went to and from our room only when absolutely necessary. I had my birthday there, and the steps almost killed me as I am now over 65. There is a hill from the road that gets a little steep as you reach the top, but a cool glass of any beverageon getting to poolside is restorative. The staff... they are amazing and always smiling even when they are super busy. The food wasn't Michelin star but there was always something nice to satisfy your hunger. The rooms are a little dated but clean, and housekeeping does a marvellous job considering they have no trolleys and traverse the hill several times a day. Be prepared to not have a plug in either the sink or bath. The air-conditioning was free ...bonus. we paid for the Internet as we needed to access it via our room. Overall , I would highly recommend Semiramis Hotel. Warning though if you have mobility issues try to get a room below the 3rd floor.

Really nice hotel and the staff and amazing. Very helpful and polite. There is a good choice of food and they even had gluten free bread which was brilliant as I was worrying about my options. The hotel is clean and the rooms have everything you need. The air con works well and we had a small balcony. The location is good. Midway between Hersonissos and Stalis. Both of which are great for shopping, eating and entertainment. Stalk is is walkable and you can get the bus to Hersonissos for €1.60 each way. Very regular and easy to use service. The only downsides are there was only entertainment once on our stay. This meant having to go to Stalis or Hersonissos in the evening so we had something to do. It is up a large hill and it can get tiring to walk up in the day so we rented a little car so that we could easily explore. It is on the mountain side so there are lots of steps. The lift doesn’t take you up past the first floor and this was annoying. They could do with a little shuttle bus like they do at the other hotels to go up to the rooms because this would then be perfect. You do get the views though being on the mountain side and there is a lot to do in terms of excursions so it is a great place to come.

For context this holiday was a lot of firsts for various members of our party: first trip on a plane, first time abroad, first trip to Crete, first all inclusive experience, first full family holiday (11 of us in total) We arrived at the airport at close to midnight, tired, lots of questions and expectations of the hotel / resort that we couldn’t really answer. The chap behind the desk was helpful, spoke decent English and explained about the all inclusive package and what we could expect. We didn’t have printed copies of the accommodation vouchers so forwarding emails from six months previously on the reception wifi was a bit of a headache. We did not know what to expect for four star accommodation in Greece: we had three rooms, all with whisper quiet air conditioning, en suite shower facilities, comfy twin beds and balconies with patio furniture. There were a few things not included: no kettle / tea or coffee making facilities but we were too tired to want to use any of it anyway. Our party included kids aged 9-19 with ranging food tastes from zero-veg carnivore, gluten and dairy-free diets, and the full range on the fussy-travel gourmet spectrum. The hotel clientele seemed predominantly European: a few Brits, lots of German, some Dutch, French, Italian, Polish etc. Yet they managed to provide three lavish buffet-style meals everyday with a variety of options to cater for everyone. Breakfast includes cereal, pastries, yoghurt, eggs, bread, hot and cold meats and cheeses, fruit, juices, with hot and cold stations. Lunch and tea included soup, pasta, rice, potatoes, pork, beef, fish, salad, olives, veg and many dessert options including a help yourself ice cream station with sauce and sprinkles on the side. there is usually a couple of named Greek specialities. The food was delicious and freshly replenished right up to the end of the service although it was not always well labelled. I had multiple helpings of something labelled ‘steamed carrots’ that was seasoned broccoli roasted with hazelnuts. I spent most mealtimes trying to work out whether each item was intended as familiar fare for particular international guests or was something local and authentic. Fish fingers and baked beans were an easy spot, the coffee and cake snack seemed aimed at the German guests. Only one faux pas so far: I took a nice dollop of what I thought to be Greek yoghurt with honey onto my watermelon only to find it was mayonnaise. Food, drinks and snacks are available at strict times and the pool bar staff are friendly. The pool is warm, there are abundant loungers and several shady spots to hide from the sun. We were not sure what to expect from the Latin dance show on Monday night, but it was brilliant, some impressive skills, cheeky comedy and they got most of the audience up on the dance-floor at the end. If I wanted to be picky, I could focus on the areas where other hotels have better facilities: mints on pillows, free hair care products in the bathroom, all inclusive does not include ice-cream as a snack out of meal times. But the location is amazing, the food is fantastic, the staff are friendly, the beds are comfy, the air con makes the rooms cool enough for a comfortable siesta or decent nights sleep. Four days in and we haven’t left the resort. A massive thank you to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable. Before staying in Crete, be sure to look up cicada a rather noisy but completely harmless insect that spend the whole day shouting.

Came back from a nice break at this hotel. We were all inclusive and had lovely meals each night. Room was a bit dated but was out the room a lot exploring. Good bus service, good English speaking. Hard working- chef, bar staff, receptionists and cleaners. Not suitable for disabled people as the hotel is on a steep hill. Could do with some entertainment in this hotel for a bit of a atmosphere as it’s a bit of a walk to go to other areas for entertainment. Beach was beautiful is a good 20mins walk. Well done to all that work in this hotel.

This socalled 4 star Hotel, is in our opinion not a 4 star. The cleaning was not very good, very dusty in the room, broken tiles in the bathroom, no changing of drinking glasses, bottom sheet didnt get changed, the floor didnt get washed all week. The area around a plug socket was broken so wires were visible. There were not many toilets in the public area for the amount of guests. The Food was super fine, except the things there were supposed to be warm, was not. BUT the pool was AWESOME.. The LOVELY staff was amazing. Especially "George" in the reception and Christina in the pool Bar. So happy, friendly, good humour, great at telling info about what to see on Crete. They really made the stay perfect :D So overall, we would give the Hotel itself 2 Stars, but George and Christina 5 stars.

Hotel semiramis TripAdvisor A big thank you to Manuel, the friendly and fun bartender. Thank you to the very kind and helpful room and restaurant staff. Thank you to Valentina for her beautiful smile. Thank you Stavaros for the welcome at the reception. very good atmosphere with in the club, excellent and varied food. the rooms are cleaned every day. we had an excellent stay for 15 days in your hotel. we visited your wonderful islands. only two small downsides to note, thank you for providing self-service water for the excursion days, indeed, with the peak heat, the management refuses that we use water at the bar! and please, stop concrete your island, we come for the beauty of the beaches and landscapes, not for the private hotels by the sea! Thank you for everything, see you soon. Alain and Valérie, French customer

On entering the hotel there was no food or drink on offer. We got the the rooms late… And to say I was disappointed, or disgusted, is a bit of an understatement… the three single beds had awful mattresses, the air conditioning unit was right out of the early 90s. The wardrobes were so small we didn’t even unpack (we were there for 10 days). We had to get a new mattress as it was like lying on bricks… The bathroom was not functional for two adults and a 15 year old girls it was tiny and the shower cubicle was awful. OK… so we said we were not going to be spending much time in the rooms… Not a problem. The food was mostly sub par. I’m not fussy, so I ate every day… but my partner, she is gluten free… there was hardly anything for her to eat, and a lot less that she wanted to eat. The three kids we travelled with hardly ate anything. The snacks were just a sandwich… then cakes from the breakfast were put out at 5 each day. The sun loungers we’re all broken and mismatched… There was NO entertainment at all… One night there was a Greek dancing night where it was like the daughter of the hotel owner had bagged her dad to allow her and her boyfriend to hold hands in front of the audience for the evening… it was awful. Also, the less said about the hill… the better. At least a 25 minute walk to the beach too. OK… it wasn’t all bad. The pool was beautiful. The views down the hill were gorgeous and we got an excellent video of a phenomenal sunrise. The best thing about this hotel… we’re the staff. After a shaky start where my girls were not allowed into the restaurant even with covers over their bikinis… the staff were excellent. The bar staff, the reception staff… they couldn’t do enough to help us. This hotel is NOT a four star hotel by any standard… it might have been back in the days of Faulty Towers… but it is a 3 star at a push.
