Charged £95.00 for "superior" room through booking.com, hate to think what an "inferior" room would be like! Hotel tariff in reception shows room to be £85.00 and £95.00 only applied to "family" room which this definitely was not. Damp on walls Door to balcony (which joined others so no security) only held by cheap small bolt at top, main lock...

great location on the front at Clacton, staff lovely and cheerfull . Had a family room but it was upstairs no lift ! so had to make several journeys to put stuff in our room not so good when you have got a baby. One of the factors we booked this hotel was because there was a car park so...

Situated on the cliff top along Clacton's Esplanade East, this elegant building offers all the cosmetics and little of the substance of a quality hotel. Entering, you observe a tired establishment crying out for some care and attention, an interior that is quaint at best, dark and meandering at worst. The room in which we stayed (room 7), whilst overlooking...

Stayed for one night only - definatly enough!! Great location of hotel right on seafront. Carpark on site, but we were told '99% chance of being blocked in by other cars'. Didnt pay extra but had a room with a sea view (room 17). Bathroom appauling - very old fashioned with mould on the shower curtain and a dirty shower....

My partner had booked a night here for my birthday. We wanted a seaview so paid extra to get a room at the front. On arrival we mentioned seaview again and all they said was we'll see what we can do, turns out we got a little room at the back! Mould up the walls, dirty mirror, cotton pads down...

If you are looking for a modern glass and chrome hotel this hotel is not for you. If however you are looking for a character hotel with great staff then I don't think you will be disappointed. The rooms are a bit dated but they are clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are a bit small and a bath mat is...

I went to the Esplanade Hotel last weekend for s Soul Weekend event, but decided against staying due to previous Trip Advisor reports and comments from people attending the event last year. It proved to be a good decision. By the owners admission he hadn’t done anything about the rooms, but for me more disappointing was the owners attitude throughout...

My wife, my granddaughter and myself spent the recent bank holiday weekend at the Esplanade. This was our third stay, the first one being back in August 2012. I gave a fairly long review at that point so this is my no-frills second review. Room - Great Value for money - Great Will we visit again? Definately. Comments: This hotel...
