Given the many good reviews online, I had assumed that this hotel would be of a reasonable standard but please do not be fooled, this is by NO means a four star hotel. The mattresses in the rooms are 90% spring - I constantly had metal digging into my back throughout the night. My boyfriend had back pain for at...

This is the first time we have been let down by Trip Advisor! We booked a night here after reading mostly complimentary reviews and what a mistake it was. It was booked as we were attending a wedding nearby and needed somewhere to get a good night sleep beforehand. The room was ok, although I noticed that there were some...

Although located on a main road it's not that noisy that you can't sit and enjoy a drink outside in the sunshine. Staff and customer service excellent and very helpful. The carvery was as expected. The breakfast had a wide choice of hot and cold options. My only negative comment is that the lodge rooms need some upgrading and soundproofing.

Don't get me wrong this is not a bad place to stay, but it is a bit pricey. So far out in the sticks that they have trouble getting taxis and give you loads of numbers to try - or is just that they cannot take the trouble to get taxis? All twin rooms are in the separate annex and...

My partner and I stayed on sat night 23/04/16 we needed a night away from kids, work etc. Stayed in room 212 which is the largest double in the building. Room was warm, welcoming and spotless. Best carvery I have had ever, nothing cooked from frozen all fresh and home cooked. All members of staff from barstaff to the lovely...

The staff at The Angel are very friendly and welcoming. The smell of the food from the kitchen whilst walking through the bar and restaurant to the rooms definitely made me want to stay for our evening meal. The double room was clean but small. Despite this hotel being in the middle of nowhere the country road is used by...

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, and not really in Alton, but nearer to Privett. Several people in my party had trouble finding it. It is welcoming though; with a large eating area with good food (although somewhat lacking in the vegetable department- apart from the carvery), the rooms have been decorated fairly recently to a good standard....

A very comfortable clean room. Very nice stay for an overnight stay on business. The dining room was trot if a little chilly, but I sat in front of the log burner so it was ok. Food was good as was the ale.

Family visit for Sunday lunch, the staff were helpful and polite, traditional inn decor, divided into smaller areas for eating, lots of comfortable chairs for relaxing in available too. We chose the carvery which was pork, turkey and beef, as a vegetarian they cooked me a slice of nut roast and offered veggie gravy. Hubby was disappointed as no apple...
