We thoroughly enjoyed the set lunch. The setting is beautiful, the menu offers a good choice of dishes, the quality of the food and the service was excellent. The food was kept fairly simple without gimmicks, but perfectly cooked. The price includes a glass of wine - the Chilean red was particularly nice.

We chose Esseborne to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary with a private lunch for family and friends. Esseborne provided a beautiful setting in August with the garden and grounds looking spectacular and we were blessed with fine weather. Our pre lunch drinks were held in the garden conveniently just outside our function room. Service was friendly and discreet. The room was beautifully set up and we were able to add personal touches, flowers and decorations. Lunch consisted of a buffet starter table with excellent choice of meat, fish, soup, salads. Sweets and cheese were offered in the same way with a choice of main course. Service was very professional and efficient. Wine flowed freely and coffee and tea, post lunch, was included. Ian, and his family who run the hotel, made everything so easy for us making this occasion one we will always remember. Our guests were very impressed. We stayed over in the Exeter Suite with a four poster bed and air conditioning. Very comfortable bed, huge room, hospitality tray and most importantly for us a stand alone multi jet power shower. Dinner courses were all served and to a very high standard. Breakfast the next morning was one of the best we have eaten, cooked to order, not greasy and with great choice of options. Ian Hamilton has a great product and we wish him and his family together with his lovely team all the success in the world, they more than deserve it!,,

Outstanding stay here .. large rooms albeit very slightly dated but very stylish nonetheless .. beautiful grounds , super friendly staff and close to Michelin star quality food .. why it’s only 3 stars we have no idea .. should be 4 without a doubt…

Due to Covid, it has been two years since our group of 30+ were able to return for Esseborne's famed Hot & Cold Buffet Lunch. Once again the location, function room, welcome and chef confirmed our decision to return. I'm delighted that Esseborne is buzzing and pleasing so many guests.

We were late booking and ourselves and our friends got the last two rooms. Ostensibly the worst rooms but still really nice. Both en-suite.our en-suite could have done with a bit of updating, but was still acceptable. Nice touch was the home made shortbread on the tea tray. The bed was really comfortable too. Lovely view over the gardens. We tried the taster menu the first night. Both service and food were superlative. Absolutely fantastic! On the second night we did a la carte. Some courses were the same but bigger than the previous night. Still amazing! Felt really looked after. Attentive staff. Reception staff were great and so were the bar staff. We will definitely be back.
