Instead of going to the usual 4* hotel in Hemel I booked at this b&b for a change of scenery. Great quality furnishings with a king sized bed and fantastic mattress, good sized suite, nice bathroom and lovely people. The views of the garden and woods beyond were spectacular and I'd love to have taken a walk there. I'll be... More

Good sized room with all the facilities you could possibly imagine. Comfy bed with homely quilts and individually stylised room decor. Good breakfast choice although I would have loved proper coffee to serve myself - instant ready-milked was the only let down!

Sandra gave us very pleasant friendly welcome offering us iced water to cool us on the hottest day of the year. The bedroom was satisfactory, with plenty storage if needed. We would like to have found fresh soap, shampoo and shower gel set out in the bathroom and were confused about the towels hanging on the back of the door,... More

We stayed at this wonderful B&B in January. I was looking for a venue where we could celebrate by husbands 40th with our family. I needed something to suit grandparents and toddlers, not an easy feat! The Fir Trees was absolutely perfect for us. Sandra & Robert were fantastic hosts. The accommodation was comfortable for us all, the rooms inside... More

The Fir Trees was booked as attending a Wedding Reception in Bovingdon, staying with some friends who had booked there also. Thanks to GPS we found the entrance and arrived to be greeted by Sandra and Robert, the location was supper, with nie gardens, set back from the road and nice and quiet. The room was excellent, with the best... More

Stayed in the Capri room at the end of May. Felt completely spoilt by Sandra's incredible food. Vast choice, nothing too much effort for her, beautifully made. Felt very well looked after and she was a great conversationalist and as someone staying on their own, made me feel very at home. Thank you for a lovely stay!! I miss your... More

Initially we thought that £100 a night for a B&B was expensive, but after looking at the rave reviews on Trip Advisor we decided that Fir Trees sounded like somewhere which would really look after us for the weekend away. Sadly, we were very disappointed. Robert and Sandra are very nice people, but unfortunately they spread themselves so thin by... More

Many thanks for your comments with regard to your stay here at our award winning Bed and Breakfast I'll take your points in turn if I may? £100 for a weekend daily rate is indeed very reasonable and indeed out top room which you were in Normally commands £125 per night for two so we gave you a reduced rate... We stayed overnight as we were doing a cycling sportive the day after in the area. The room (Capri) was most comfortable, with quality tea and coffee facilities, which we much appreciated. There is Sky on TV and wifi, and every comfort travelers require such as tissues, toiletries etc. The owners are most friendly and helpful: allowed us to store... More
