This beautiful converted mill provided the most perfect location for our intimate wedding on 16th April 2016. And it didn't disappoint on our return yesterday when, returning to the Mill to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, the owner Richard offered us Champagne on arrival to toast our first year of marriage! We enjoyed a fabulous meal in the beautiful bistro,...

Very helpful staff. Lovely location. Food disappointing. Ordered from the menu and the chef decided to replace what we had ordered with something else. Eventually received our order but chicken was then dry and inedible. Commented on the food not being good but still had to pay full price. Room tired and bathroom shower had no power.

This is a lovely place to stay. Situated in deepest, greenest rural Essex/Herts, this converted mill provides a quiet, tranquil setting down the end of a narrow lane. The food in the restaurant is excellent - we ate there one night and had breakfast every morning (great sausages). The owners are friendly and helpful. The rooms are a little bit...

Spent a couple of nights here for a wedding party and had a great time. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. This interesting old mill in a nice peaceful location is a great venue. My only negative is that the rooms were a bit dated but by the owners own admittance it was work in progress and I'm...

This is a nice cosy hotel to spend the night. It is a bit difficult to get to, but is in a very beautiful surrounding. We had a very nice, comfortable room, and the staff were really helpful. It's also very convenient for Stansted.

If your staying based on the visual aspect then this is the place for you. it is a little out of the way and to be told on arrival they were not serving food was very disappointed, especially had I had been traveling for over five hours that day. To add insult to injury, I was asked "Will I be...

Upon arriving to a beautiful setting me and my colleague Pierre was nodding in appreciation of the place. We wanted the pertruding room and we got it. The owner was friendly enough but did rabbit on a bit. He was talking a lot about needing to go a toilet along side a motorway. Which was all a bit to weird!...

My partner and I stayed here for one evening after I had picked her up from Stansted airport although we were arriving late the owners called us to make sure that we could get in. The hotel is set in a beautiful old mill, overlooking a canal and is full of character. The room was cute and had everything needed....

I've stayed here a few times when I've been working in London. I love the setting of this place however I ate there on one night which was a first for me ,and although tasty , really did lack on quality. Creamy mash should really be creamy not taste of powdered rehydrated mash also 10 pound for a cheese board...

Having been the first time we met you, we assume that this is your first visit in at least 3-4 years when under the previous management. Our restaurant receives consistently excellent reviews. We cook with fresh, seasonal produce and there is not a glimmer of a Smash Martian in the kitchen. Your £10 pound Cheeseboard which you refer to had...

This is the first time I have ever left a review, but honestly feel I am doing the honourable thing, if this place is ever going to stand a chance of being a successful restaurant. Starting with a positive, this place is set within a lovely location & the mill itself is absolutely delightful. It has so much potential and...

Thank you for your honourable intentions and we are sorry that you left unsatisfied. We are not complacent as a business but wish to correct you if we may regarding your review. The restaurant was not empty. We were fully booked last Sunday you visited. We had 30 ladies upstairs enjoying afternoon tea and every table in the bistro had...
