Where do you start? The hotel called me on the day we were to arrive to ask if they could give us a lift from the ferry. TICK one for super service. Rothsay is an old (late 19th Century) Villa on the hill in West Cowes overlooking the solent. It has a pedestrian exit down to the beach. It is...

Upon entering the Villa Rothsay, one is truly transported back into the Victorian era in the most comforting and marvellous way. This grand old lady's staircase creaks, her walls unabashedly proud of a long and glorious association with yachting, famous yachtsmen and all the wonderful romance of Cowes. Pour oneself a stiff gin from the honour bar and take in...

Villa Rothsay is unique - not only due to the hotel's sailing history. The owner and the team make you feel very welcome from the first moment. Some of the rooms are larger, others are smaller but they all share the typical British flair. Dinner is also quite typical but always delicious and freshly prepared. The hotel has wifi. If...

Stayed for a couple of nights. Lovely place to stay with loads of character. Will definitely be first on my list when we visit the Island again. Cowes within easy walk with the prom just a short walk away.

Dame Paola "Molestrangler" and me are very lucky to have travelled the World. During these trips we've patronised 2 star, 3 star, 4 & 5 star hotels including several Grand Hotels. Then last year we found the VILLA ROTHSAY. Oh joy. What a cracking place. See my 2015 report. Run by the sisters in "HARMONY " Margaret and Miranda, ably...

A great little hotel a short walk from Cowes High Street. Fantastic collection of yachting and power boating memorabilia. Friendly service and good sized comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast with a great view over the Solent while you are eating. A much better place to stay than the chain offerings.

A lovely few days in this unusual hotel situated in an excellent location some 10 minutes from the restaurant pubs, shops and Boatyards of Cowes. The decor is quirky and with a Victorian flavour. Margaret and her staff provide a friendly and willing service with nothing too much trouble. The breakfasts are superb and if you are lucky enough to...

Stayed here in mid July and had a great nights sleep in a comfortable room. Reception was friendly and relaxed, showing us to our rooms. My room, overlooking the sea was great. Breakfast the next morning in the traditional but well executed dining room was delicious. Beatific setting too. Will come again

My husband and I spent two weeks in southern England in June - a trip that I planned myself after doing extensive research on the internet. I will say the the highlight of our trip was the time spent on the Isle of Wight and based in Cowes. Everything about our stay at Villa Rothsay was superb. The location itself...
