The pool is outdoor and not heated. It is operational June - September, weather permitting.

I have been very interested in the reviews of this hotel. My wife and I stayed there in March 2014, in the room with the fire escape, ripped curtains, stained and disgusting curtains and blinds in the bathroom. The food was a let down. Contrary to what their website said, the tasting menu was not available. Only one member of staff on duty in the dinning room and bar. We did complain, and the response was that the room was due for refurbishment. Looking back at previous reviews, this was promised to another guest in the summer of 2013! The type of building it is, I do not expect it to be ultra modern. What I do expect is adequate staffing, clean and desirable bedrooms and food that becomes of a hotel of the stature The Priory claims to be, If the hotel is having financial problems, I'm not surprised. None of the issues in the reviews raised by guests over the last 3 years seem to have been addressed. I know things are tough in the hotel business, but this could be such a wonderful hotel, given it's position. I'm sure the Manager and the staff have tried their best, in probably difficult circumstances, but the hotel needs a massive cash injection, updating, and a top notch restaurant.
