We had a lovely time staying in the Oast House. It happened to be a wild and windy weekend weather wise, but the Oast was warm and comfortable. Sean and Corinna were great hosts and made sure we had everything we needed.

There are not enough superlatives to describe Godwin House and its delightful hosts. Our first stay last year in the Garden Cottage was so memorable, we worked around our travel schedule so that we could include a second visit. Could the hospitality be any better? Sean and Corinna welcomed us with a refreshing drink and nibbles so that we could...

We really enjoyed our stay at Godwin House. We slept like logs, ate like kings and indulged a passion for history! Attention to detail was flawless. Even with our later than expected arrival (courtesy of an overturned lorry on the M20) Sean took the time to point us in the direction of a good restaurant and made sure they would...

It was fun doing the history and we have a potential change to our own. We have since had a visit from an oast house historian who took photos in 1960. It was a lot more barn like, draughty and cold then. He's looking at adding more than a hundred years to our estimate of its date of being rebuilt...

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights with friends at Godwin House. We slept in the Oast House and our friends stayed in the small cottage. Both rooms are spotless and very quirky. We received a very warm welcome and the gin and tonic was just what we needed after along days walking! Our hosts couldn't do enough for...

It's good to have walkers because Corinna in particular is a keen walker and likes everyone to see around the beauty of this place. You get the best of it if you take it at a walking pace and get away from the roads. It takes longer to do but is it worth and there's loads more to come back...

Right from our arrival we were impressed with the hospitable reception we received. The oast house was a pleasure to stay in being well equipped with all amenities plus extra touches such as chocolates and fresh flowers. The excellent breakfast included home made bread and preserves. Sean and Corinna were most obliging going the extra mile to make a unique...

We enjoyed our chats and thank you for your good words. It's very pleasing to know that we have pleased. Much of the detail comes from Corinna. She has taught me a lot but the main principle we have both learned is that it works best if we make it the way we would like it when we go somewhere....

Godwin House felt like a treat and an indulgence from start to finish. Sean and Corinna are friendly and hospitable, with excellent local knowledge. We stayed for two nights to attend a nearby wedding, and our hosts were kind enough to allow us a later lazy morning the next day. Breakfasts are delicious and plentiful - we enjoyed ours by...

We think of ourselves as specialising in the sale of indulgences. We guarantee to give you whatever makes it good for you (well almost) - except for the sun drenching. But we think the birds, the moorhens, have definitely colonised us permanently so come back next year and see their next fluffy family.

Very recommended! We spend here 3 nights and had a wonderful time. Sean and Corinne were very friendly, attentive and helpful. They can provide you with good information about the attractions in the neighbourhood and different pubs and restaurants. The extensive breakfast (with a lot of choices) was delicious, especially the different home made marmelades and jams. We stayed in...

We hope you'll be back someday. We can always be the first stop from the continent and there are lots of reasons to stay around rather than to pass through. Well have more shades of marmalade when you come again and, of course, our homemade brea and everything else..

This was our second visit to Godwin House and it was every bit as enjoyable as our first. Corinna and Sean are so hospitable and, once again, gave us a very warm welcome. The Garden Cottage is beautifully appointed to a very high standard with lots of little touches that made our stay so comfortable. There was a wide selection...

Well it was fun to see you again and we're glad you felt we maintained the standard. It is about detail and we try to remember that all the time. We're ready for your third whenever you fancy - which we hope you do!

We offered our parents a midweek vaccation in Kent. It was their first English experience and we could not have found a better base to explore the garden of England. Sean and Corinna's welcome with tea and cake in their beautiful garden made us feel at home right away and Sean's knowledge of French broke the language barrier. The garden...

Merci de votre gentillesse... it's always enjoyable to have guests who are enthusiastic about this beautiful area. It is a good place to introduce people to England. Next time you come here we should have made some more marmalade flavours to try.

Based on a random we found Godwin House. I was the very best stay during our trip (including 3 stays). The whole premises is wonderful and offers much space for recreation. Well, thank you for calling us the best. Hooray! We enjoyed having you and showing you the discovery of porridge - a Scottish rather than an English breakfast ingredient. You came as you say on a 'random' basis, but we hope next time (and we hope there will be a next time) you won't have to take pot luck! You'll...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
You are invited to bed and breakfast at our Tudor home in the heart of the Weald of Kent. Godwin House, is an Elizabethan farmhouse built in 1580 and, set in lovely grounds minutes from ancient Cranbrook and Sissinghurst. You can choose between two luxurious en suite rooms - stylish Garden Cottage or our beautiful, unique Oast House, the oldest in England, a 16th Century building rebuilt in 1740. Garden Cottage with its peg tiled roof and weatherboarding is pure Kentish style. Exposed beams and antique furniture create a welcoming and interesting space, relaxing and private. Godwin’s Oast House is special. There’s nowhere like it. You are in the heart of Kent’s history and rural life but with en-suite comfort, fine furnishings, king sized sleigh bed and mod cons. Breakfast is the best of local produce with home baked bread fresh on the day served in our Tudor Morning Room in the house overlooking the views in this designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. ... more   less
