We stayed at the Royal Hotel one night pre-cruise before boarding our ship in Dover. The hotel truly is more like a pub with rooms, but I expected that (after having read it on this site). We were greeted very warmly and given our room....More

We stayed on 14th June. Restuarant closed but casual dining in bar. It was like eating in an ordinary pub. Food cold not much choice and ok if you like chips. Glass of beer served in a badly chipped glass could have caused a cut...More

We were quite disappointed with our stay at The Royal Hotel. Although certain aspects of the hotel give the impression of a more luxurious establishment, this is after all just a 2-star hotel. So £130 for a room is extremely expensive! Nobody was on reception...More

Yes next to the Royal in council car park but make sure you purchase ticket for overnight and then in the morning if leaving car after certain time. I think you need a ticket after 9:00am but it is cheap.
