Just returned from a 2 night break & first visit to the family owned Walpole Bay Hotel, Margate & what a surprise it turned out to be. This has to be one of the quirkiest hotels in the UK with its hotel museum, Edwardian style decoration, many restored original fixings, napkin displays, etc & a very enthusiastic owner in Jane...

We had our doubts as the star rating is lower than we normally choose, but what a place! The Walpole Bay is a real vintage experience - a stay in a museum. the rooms were cosy and comfortable, the staff were lovely, the collections fascinating - old typewriters, floor cleaners - you name it, there seemed to be a cupboard...

Spent a very nice weekend here for a friend's wedding. Very pleasantly surprised wtih this hotel - we had a large room with a four-poster bed with a sea view. Charming old-fashioned furniture and styling, but everything in excellent condition and very clean - not tired at all. I enjoyed the old-fashioned lift - very quirky. Enjoyed lovely sandwiches and...

I was part of a large event during January and what made me feel less welcome was when the hotel management were openly having a conversation with our organisers, ultimately indicating that they weren't happy with the event. It's clear investment is required in the cloakroom as indicated by my photograph.

Loved many aspects of this hotel. I love 'old' things and am considered to be a bit of a hoarder/collector by my family so I thought I'd love the museum, but it made me actually rethink my own home - are the things I've collected just dust traps and do they look like a random collection of objects ? I...

My family and I recently celebrated my father's 90th birthday with afternoon tea at The Walpole Bay Hotel. It was an amazing occasion and was thoroughly enjoyed by the entire party which was made up of all ages from twin 2 year olds to the guest of honour. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was plentiful,...

Attended a Birthday tea party there today for a 95 year old in a wheelchair. The staff were friendly, the tea was good but the facilities for anyone disabled were minimal. The ladies was on the first floor and the lift was not big enough for the wheelchair. There are steps at the entrance to the hotel and ramps were...

Our stay at the Walpole was wonderful. Such an enchanting place, so much to see around the hotel, lovely sea views, charming and cosy bedrooms. The staff were very attentive and helpful throughout. The perfect place to stay when visiting Margate and environs.

I was looking through google for dog friendly hotels for a spur of the moment night away. I saw the Walpole and remember visiting it for a drink about 17 years ago and saying that i would like to stay overnight one day. So, called them, booked it, very pleasant girl on the phone. The second we were in the...

I always wanted to go after watching the Hotel Inspector. It did not disappoint and I am so pleased that Jane did not take much notice of Alex, even the hornet's nest is still there. We stayed four nights and enjoyed every minute. Fortunately we did not fall out of bed as was a long way from the floor. Despite...
