If you don,t mind eating in the bar or outside no need to book. Typical pub menu with quite a choice. Same menu available in the bar or restaurant. Friendly staff. We stayed locally in The Stable a holiday cottage booked through Kent Holiday Cottages. About a mile from Tenterden. Beautiful cottage with everything you could need and helpful owners...

The room we stayed in was artistically decorated and had in it all that the short stay demanded and more! The pub below was friendly and although lively quietened after time was called. It was not problem. There was a car park for guests. The breakfast was good and the service excellent. This hotel is very handy for the many...

The White Lion is a lovely central hotel in Tenterden, with easy level walking of all the town's amenities. The room I stayed in was large and full of sunlight in the early morning. Staff were very friendly, courteous and nothing was too much trouble.

My wife and I stayed at The White Lion for two nights. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Our room - Rye- was large, well equiupped and clean, as was the bathroom. The hotel is well situated right on the High Street, is a five minute walk to the steam train and a 10 minute drive from Chapel Down...

Me and my wife came down from ipswich and went traveling. We stopped off at chapel down and then to the white lion. I couldn't stress enough how good the bar staff was to helping us out. I had a nice long conversation with Levi. He was very polite well mannered. Suffered my terrible jokes and he gave us some...

We stayed at the White Lion for 1 night at the end of April whilst visiting Chapel Down vineyard. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Dwayne showed us to our room and explained everything once we were checked in and even offered to help with our bags. We had a table booked for our evening meal - the food was...

We really enjoyed our time here - we had a party of 8 booked in with a meal on the Saturday night and we found the food and service excellent throughout. It's a beautiful old pub with a little beer garden at the front, a good range of beers and outdoor table service. There's a private car park at the...

My family had a gap between selling our home and buying a new one in the Tenterden area but we didn't know the town at all. We moved ourselves and the kids into two rooms at The White Lion late in the evening mid week..... No problems :) The White Lion is an old traditional English building in the middle...

A popular pub with ambitions in the middle of the village, however much was missing. We had booked and quickly got a table. In the bar we had asked for a bottle of English white wine, and were now told they had ran out of them. Looking at the wine list, it did not list one single bottle of English...

My wife and I took our 2 boys (3 and 5) to the white lion for lunch today. We were made to feel extremely welcome by the manager and offered a seat in view of the pizza oven so the boys could watch their pizza's being made. Everyone member of staff we met including Freya, Lydia and Liam were polite...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Following a stunning recent refurbishment the White Lion Hotel now gracefully combines ‘olde world’ charms with a contemporary look and feel. All of the rooms (including family and superior rooms) have been delightfully re-furbished to provide guests with flat screen TVs displaying over 40 digital channels, hairdryers, tea and coffee making facilities and new luxurious beds and bedding. Guests can also make use of the function and conference facilities, complimentary WiFi and the restaurant, serving quality fresh food sourced from the best suppliers. The pub remains the heart and soul of the White Lion Hotel and food is our specialty. The enhanced environment, combined with a fantastic new fresh food offer, allows guests to enjoy either a meal in our bar, or for more of an occasion dine in our restaurant. Diners and drinkers alike can also enjoy one of our many real ales or wines selected from around the world. The town itself has been described as ‘the Jewel of the Weald’, with wide tree lined streets, historic buildings, inns and a host of specialist shops. Out and about there are picture postcard villages to explore, manor houses and gardens, and of course, Leeds Castle, set in 500 acres of parkland. ... more   less
