What a pleasant surprise, an original pub that is more like a boutique hotel, come gastro pub, set in a beautiful rural location. We were delighted to be given the best-room because of Jane's birthday and it was delightful, quirky with uneven floor, chic decoration & furniture, split level en-suite. A little apprehensive after reading previous reviews, particularly regarding the...

We were offered a room here when our room at another local hotel had been flooded. The staff were pleasant as was the bar area and the room. The floors were all totally uneven, but hey it's a very old character property and it adds to the charm. It's a bit noisy as it's right on the road but once...

Stayed on a Travelzoo voucher (dinner allowance + wine and B&B). Nice friendly welcome and speedily shown to our room. This is a well restored old coaching inn converted to what is really now a boutique Bistro Pub with rooms. All rooms (6) are unique & furnished in period style. The standard of food was high and served by efficient...

I went for Sunday lunch at the castle inn with three friends, as I'd passed it a few times and thought I'd give it a try. On arrival I asked if we could eat in the beer garden as it was a rare sunny day, but was told they don't serve food outside, though we could take drinks outside. This...

Situated on a B road in a very pretty village directly opposite the church...the church clock does chime on the hour every hour right through the night but whilst it didn't disturb my nights sleep I can't say the same for my husband who is a light sleeper. The hotel whilst being an old building has some modern features especially...

My wife & I stayed at the 'Castle Inn' on the 22nd/23rd March. When we arrived we were shown to our room, which was comfortable & adequate for our needs, but the problem we had was that there was no heating on. We reported this to the staff, & they immediately sent a guy to investigate the problem. After a...

This stay was a treat from my daughter for Mothers Day (husbands came along too!). As you walk in to the restaurant bar area it has a very cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Our rooms nos 4 and 5 were very bright, big bathrooms with powerful showers! The food in the restaurant was brilliant which we really enjoyed and we have...

It's some years since we had been to The Castle, since it was renovated a long time ago. I'm glad that it is now a pleasant place to eat or just to pay a visit for a drink in a homely atmosphere. We had squid rings to begin, cooked perfectly in a light crispy batter. I had a flatiron steak...

Stopped here for lunch, it was quiet however the staff were very friendly. Had the two for one lunch and it was excellent. My wife had the Thai prawn curry and was amazed by the number of large prawns in it, I had the steak pie and the meat was plentiful and tasty. some nice local beers on tap. The...
