Terrible experience, there place is a right state, It's filthy and the staff don't care. It's one the worst hotels I've stayed in, Avoid at all costs at this very very upset and disappointed from this visit!
Before I review this 2 things to note: 1. Visit was during the pandemic 2. We knew what to expect The vast majority of reviews on trip advisor are fairly accurate. When we booked we knew what to expect and when we arrived our expectations were set. We were using this hotel as a stop over on a long drive. We had booked a double room with breakfast via Booking.com for £50 (35 for the room + 15 for breakfast for 1 night) but the receptionist told us that breakfast was not being served but all he could do was give us £10 back instead of £15 and to claim the remaining £5 from Booking.com. We eventually agreed on an “upgraded” room. This room was huge but not without its flaws. We were aware from the reviews that the cleanliness of the hotel had been questionable however we expected post reopening after COVID that everything would have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, this was NOT the case! The room is in a serious need of updating, I hate to nitpick but we noticed that there were a number of dead bugs on the windowsill, one of the chairs had a large stain on it, the toilet had some shavings on the bowl and generally the place could do with a lick of paint. It feels like the hotel is stuck in the 80s. Our sleep was ok, the double bed was fairly hard and the lack of aircon made it hard to get to sleep. I don’t think we’ll visit any other the other hotels until they’ve had some degree of modernisation.…
Booked in here by employer as local premier inn had no vacancies. Without doubt the dirtiest, worst maintained hotel I’ve ever visited. Food was terrible which resulted in eating out at extra cost as what was on offer was barely edible. Staff are pleasant but woefully inept at anything approaching good customer service. Ultimately I feel sorry for them as they are clearly untrained, poorly paid, on zero hours contracts and all received redundancy notices during my stay due to coronavirus. To conclude - do not ever book to stay here. If you are an employer do not ever put your staff in here. If you’re looking for a job do yourself a favour and avoid working there.
I decided to book this hotel on a week night as me and my fiancé were at a taster evening at our wedding venue which was local to this hotel. We decided to book as to see what it was like before recommending it to our wedding guests with it being one of the closest hotels to our venue. On arrival there was a group of lads outside in the carpark drinking cans and being rowdy, we walked into the hotel and you could smell stale cigarettes in the lobby, I wish we'd have just left then at that point before actually checking in. The lobby was dated and smelt of stale cigarettes but as it was just a one night stay I could have got over that. However, what I couldn't get over was the fact that our room smelt like someone had been smoking in it minutes before our arrival. We went to the front desk to see if we could be moved to a different room as I myself was pregnant and didn't feel happy staying over night in a room which someone had clearly been smoking in. The young lad on the desk said we couldn't be moved, my finacé then asked for a refund and the lad said he couldn't offer one either. We just grabbed our stuff and drove home, biggest waste of money ever. Avoid at all costs.…
Where do I start. The place looks like it needs bulldozed and rebuild. The rooms and common areas are unkempt with peeling paint, mold, cracked tiles in the bathroom, plug sockets that didn't work. The rooms could do with updating or even a massive deepclean. We avoided the pool/spa because if the hotel cleanliness is anything to go by god only knows what you would catch from the pool. The front of house staff including the deputy manager were rude and extremely unprofessional. I observed the deputy manager and receptionist talking unprofessionally about someone at the frontdesk who complained via phone about their friends stays unbeknown to them that the person they were discussing was in fact my sister in law. I have visited and stayed in hostels with better staff and facilities. The breakfast was the biggest waste of money--my partner who is South African and basically eats everything took one look and left. I stayed and for once I should have admitted he was right and saved myself the horror . The breakfast was completely inedible. From the watered down apple juice to the burnt mushrooms and beans that tasted like they came out of the tin three weeks ago and have been reheated every day since. I had to attend my mother's room at 7am to see for myself what she had to endure from the neighbouring and adjacent guests who were shouting screaming and partying from before 5am. Even after contacting reception this issue wasn't resolved. When I banged the wall to tell them to keep it down it escalated to the neighbouring guests calling at the door. I am only glad I was in the room so that my mother did not have to endure the disgusting behaviour of other guests alone. It resulted in my Mother having to leave her room ar 7am to come to my room because of the ineptitude of the staff to deal with the issue. The best advice I could give to anyone is to book the premier Inn across the road. Avoid avoid avoid…
