As has already been said, the hotel, no doubt once grand, is now shabby and run down. Room very tired, mattress springs had given up some time ago. Very weak shower. No lift and WiFi only available in and around bar area. Breakfast O.K. but...More

The royal was once probably a top hotel, looks last refurbished in 80s/90s it needs serious investment which does not seem to be forthcoming, the garden is overgrown, the carpark pay and display (free if stay) probably keeps the hotel affloat. The room was tired...More

They didn't when I stayed there. Its not far to walk to the town. It was a very sad hotel, not sure if it has started its re furb
