Called in without booking on a Sunday looking for a table for 5. Although the main restaurant was fully booked we were shown to a table in the quiet area at the front of the hotel, which was fine for us. The main carvery is £10 per head which is great value and the food was very nice. The meat...

We stayed for one night after very long day travelling to see family. Very old hotel so a little dated but expected. Room and bathroom very clean, but curtain had broken hooks, could not close. As at the front of the hotel very light with the street lights. Bed, was the worse bed I think we have ever slept (or...

We spent a comfortable couple of nights here. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable. We had a room at the back so it was nice and quiet for a good nights sleep. The food was excellent both breakfast and evening meal. Staff friendly and welcoming.

Just had a lovely sandwich and cappuccino and onion rings, very nice, good quality and reasonable, tried to get in Betty's tearooms over the road but a queue as usual so thought I would give this place a try and I will be back for more, a fraction of the cost as over the road.

Hubby and I were visiting Northallerton for the day and chose the Golden Lion for our lunch after reading the menu outside. Going to the bar hubby asked the waitress what flavour the bottled ciders were and short of actually rolling her eyes she gave the distinct impression it was a HUGE deal for her to look. I was unable...

Visited the market on Sat 15.10.16. Didn't know what to expect when we got in, but found all rooms full with diners. Had lunch which was nice and didn't take too long despite the amount of people therein. Staff friendly and efficient, beer in excellent condition. Prices for food and drink very reasonable, will definitely visit again when in the...

I had to attend a speed awareness course at this hotel and decided to stay overnight. The property is located in the town centre with parking to the rear. The hotel is of a traditional style with additional buildings and function rooms probably added over the years. The bar and restaurant areas on the ground floor were generally good but...

A solid option in a great location for pottering about town. The hotel is reaped in history having been an old coaching inn. The maze of stairs to the rooms bears testament to this. Whilst the rooms are clean, pleasant and quiet they won't give you a wow factor. The same can be said for the food which is good...

We were at this hotel/restaurant/bar for a family wedding with our two young sons. The whole experience was lovely - the staff were polite and extremely well mannered and they couldn't do enough for us. I can't speak about the hotel rooms as we didn't stay over. The meal for the wedding breakfast was absolutely delicious and warm when it...
