Visited recently for a wedding. Excellent venue and a great wedding. Could not fault the staff at all, very attentive throughout. The food was top notch. Drink prices are on the high side but on par with other similar locations. The only constructive criticism is that trying to get to the car park on a dark October night is difficult which would be made much easier with some form of lighting! That apart, couldn’t fault the setting in any way.
First time staying in the Dairy Rooms. We have stayed a few times before but in the Coach House rooms. All lovely but the Dairy rooms were extra special. Large lounge are with two large sofas. Large room and outside patio with French doors. Large bathroom with walk in shower and deep bathtub. Beautiful rooms set away from the main house. We ate in the coach house restaurant and it was lovely as usual. Very seasonal. Breakfast was excellent as usual too. Really love this place, very relaxing and will definitely be back.
Beautiful hotel, lovely staff and great food. Love the style of the rooms, and the variety of accommodation available, and the grounds are very impressive. Excellent evening meal, Sunday lunch and breakfasts in the Coach House - everything is very fresh and delicious and the staff are great. Such a relaxing stay, very much looking forward to staying again soon.
We enjoyed a one night stay at this amazing hotel and stayed in what is called the dairy, room 8, overlooking the garden. This is the second time we’ve stayed here, the first time being The Farmhouse. Our evening meal, is one of the best we’ve enjoyed for some time. Our Bed and Breakfast deal was classified as continental, but you could still order poached eggs on toast plus sausage sandwich and bacon sandwich. You could order a full English breakfast if you wanted to, but that was extra. I would like to thank the delightful head waitress who served us dinner, but sadly we didn’t catch her name, and we would also like to thank Sarah and Kate who served us at breakfast who were delightful. The reception staff were also very helpful, but unfortunately We don’t know their names. There is a lovely walk you can take surrounding the hotels grounds which should have taken forty minutes, but was more like an hour.…
How many times have I driven along the A1 / A1M reached Scotchcorner and put my foot on the accelerator until I thought I had reached a better place to stay . Never again will I do that , as I've found it , 2 miles from said junction , in a very petty village a perfect , no adorable place to stay . Spent 3 nights everything absolutely perfect ( bar 1) accommodation, pristine , atmosphere perfect , food perfect [well a!most ] staff , cleanliness perfect . Will be back soon Anyway , back to the food 99% and very nearly perfect , just p!ease drop the Risotto NOW , we humans often eat with our eyes and if you do , it hurts !!!!
Booked for one night with Secret Escapes, lovely hotel, professional staff. Stayed in the Tack room which was next to reception very large bedroom with wood burning stove and huge bathroom with excellent shower and roll top bath great to have underfloor heating which kept the room just at the right temperature There is a walk through the estate woodland which took us just under an hour very pleasant way to help to work up and appetite. Also had a stroll around the impressive walled garden great to see vegetables from the garden used by the chef. We had dinner in the Coach House restaurant which was very good and a great breakfast in the morning , Eating good quality produce is important to us and we were not disappointed.
Stayed for just one night and everything was perfect. We had a room described as cosy so we expected a tiny cramped room, but it was anything but! Huge comfortable bed (best night sleep!) and spacious. Bedroom and bathroom were beautifully designed with everything we needed. The restaurant was a great mix of relax with higher end with a wear what you like policy. The atmosphere here and the in the bar were lovely as was the welcome throughout by the staff. We did the woodland walk which enables us to get a feel for the location. If you have time would definitely recommend a stroll around. Would recommend for a spot of lunch or dinner when passing or for a stay.
What a disappointment ! Dirty and unwelcoming. Arrived to find dirt and grease in kitchen, not permitted to walk the grounds, not allowed to leave dog alone in property, so basically you have to take with you, so don't think about planning a nice meal alone in a fancy restaurant as we were hoping, coach House is directly next door to the very noisy manor house, cars a plenty and Porsches revving loud engines at 7.15am ! Not relaxing, too noisy, no welcome or anything from the owners of the manor. Would definitely not recommend. We had 9 days planned, we came back after just 3 !!. Hated it. Like a prison and just as unloved (see pics).
…..we just had to come back. Once again we stayed in a dog friendly room (Tethera) to the rear of reception which was clean and decorated to a very high standard…loved the rainforest shower. We ate both nights in The Coach House, the food was amazing. A fact we gladly shared with one of the chefs as he passed us by on our second morning. The staff, as before, were professional, courteous and very friendly. A special shout out to Kieran who kindly kept me in Moretti when the calling came.
We stayed with adult family overnight to celebrate a ‘special’ birthday. First impression was how tranquil and rural it was given that it is less than a mile from the A1 and Scotch Corner. Check in was friendly and efficient. We had 2 rooms in The Dairy, both ground floor with outdoor jacuzzis. The rooms were larger than average, well appointed with super king beds, good linen, robes, Nespresso coffee and high end toiletries in the bathroom. Breakfast was freshly prepared, if a little limited (no cheeses or salmon or meats). The only kicker is the several hundred outdoor metres between the bedrooms and the main house and restaurant, fine if it’s fine and mobility is not a problem, very wet otherwise (umbrellas are provided). In summary an enjoyable stay, we would go again.
