I love the Talbot, I really do. I'm a regular and enjoy the atmosphere and the beautiful building. However, although friendly, some members of staff can be a bit aloof and in some instances, invisible. I stood at the bar for ten minutes last week before anyone turned up and when he did, there was no apology for the lengthy...

I was looking for somewhere quiet to stay for a night away with work, reasonably close to Peterborough, the Talbot Hotel ticked these boxes and more. Great service upon arriving, lovely, clean, comfortable room. Room service was excellent and delivered in a timely manner. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection and I checked out very satisfied with my stay....

The buildings speak for themselves. The common areas & the restaurant are lovely. The bar has 2 large wood burning fireplaces, quite enjoyable to sit by when you sip your gin cocktail. The rooms I stayed in were a bit dated and could use a bit of sprucing up. The bed wasn't very comfortable either. The staff definitely were super...

We were most impressed with this historic hotel in the centre of a very quaint market town. Service was first class from reception on arrival to service. Gail on reception and Matt in the bar were both very helpful.

The hotel is very pretty in a charming location. The room was excellent; clean and quiet with a very comfortable bed. The staff were very good. The breakfast, unfortunately, was awful. Soggy croissants, truly vile orange juice from concentrate, and British Rail level coffee. A shame, such a simple thing to get right. Otherwise the hotel is excellent.

We couldn't fault it. Very generously sized room, super big bed, good bathroom, big towels. Excellent breakfast. Very helpful staff. Considering what we paid, £99 for 2 nights, it offered superb value.

The bedhead. Sounds strange but it was a huge dark brown padded monstrosity that was covered something that is made to look like leather but clearly wasn't. It may have been upholstered recently but it emitted a truly horrendous smell of plastic and chemicals which made for a very difficult nights sleep. The room was overly hot which meant having...

I have been to the Talbot on a few occasions over the last 2 years - excellent service, food and accommodation as always. the location is great being in the heart of the small historic town of Oundle and vey quiet at night (from a sleep perspective)

Due to the age of the property found the low beams in the room and corridors very intrusive. Service and food in the restaurant exceptional The room was extremely clean and a very good size but found was very conscious of the low beams everywhere
