Stayed here for two nights and couldn't be happier with the experience. Modern and finished to a high specification throughout, with everything we could possibly need. The room (#1) was very clean and comfortable and our breakfasts, cooked by our helpful host Leo (full English...More
Great location for exploring Alnwick. Room spotless and spacious (room 2), with everything we needed including toiletries, hairdryer and quality bedding. Parking just over road at The Plough Hotel which was no problem. Good choice for breakfast and would stay here again.
Can't think of anything critical to say. Tate House excellent, location good, town good, area good, all good. Alnwick Gardens is a must, as is the castle. The coast is fantastic and the countryside is beautiful. Don't know why we haven't been before.

Have booked a night here for early January, however didn't realise the castle was closed over winter. What else is there to do local in Alnwick?

The Alnwick Gardens is usually open 364 days a year. Only ever closed for Christmas day. However, due to a major refurbishment of the gardens in January this too will be closed for a month. However, you could always go visit Barter Books, one of the largest secondhand book sellers in the UK. There is also miles of unspoilt beaches with some dramatic scenery to be had. January isn't the best time unfortunately due to the lack of opened attractions. But we are seeing lots of walkers this time due to the lovely weather.
