Service was very good and polite. The room we were in could have done with a refurb. Nothing drastic was wrong just looking a bit tired as were the stairs (Carpets looking a bit threadbare). Bed was soft and comfortable. No shower, just a bath which took a long while to fill and the water never got too hot. Breakfast...

Visited here for a meal for two on a quiet Friday evening based upon other reviewers recommendations plus we only live 10 minutes away by car so convenient too. We didn't want to go to a pizzeria etc so opted for the Raven. I think we Brits would call it 'quaint' although to be fair we felt it looked tired...

Stayed here again this weekend (our fourth visit) for the fantastic poetry festival. It's always lovely at the Raven - fab welcome, all the staff just wanting you to have the best time. We hadn't booked to eat on the Sunday night after the last event! but were supplied with nibbles, then a full meal conjured up out of nowhere....

Spent the night in room 10, which is a room overlooking the courtyard. The room was very spacious and the bed was incredibly comfortable. No noise other than bird song in the morning. We ate our evening meal in the restaurant, the service was swift and friendly and the food was truly excellent. We will definitely be back.

Was the 155 miles, 5 hour journey through rain and heavy traffic worth it?? Yes! Every rain sodden traffic jam mile! The food alone was worth the trip. If the chef is not Michelin starred, he should be; a different menu each evening with superb choices. The hotel itself, being very, very old speaks to you via creaky floorboards and...

We had a super 2 night offer from travel zoo which included breakfast. We stayed in the four poster bedroom which was large and very comfy. The decoration was very chintzy which is not my style but to be honest it added to the charm of the room, it worked well. The room had a large wooden beam, uneven floors...

We really loved our stay at The Raven. The hotel itself is old, charming, warm and quaint and we stayed in The Forge, which we loved, but the star of the show is undoubtedly the absolutely amazing food cooked by Chef Jason Hodnett (yes, him off the telly), served up by friendly and knowledgeable staff in the characterful dining rooms....

We booked this through a Travelzoo deal. We had a two night stay with breakfast and a bottle of Proseco. From start to finish it was so easy to book. There were 3 couples in our party and we all stayed in the Forge (a short walk across the carpark) which was beautiful. We were in Room 4 which is...

We picked the Raven because we needed a base for a walking weekend away and it had got very good reviews. Arrived early on Friday morning so left car in car park and had a look round Town, very nice not a lot to do though.Went back to book in about 4.30 pm by which time a room had been allocated...

Had two nights here and wish we had booked longer. Incredibly warm welcome from the owner, who could not have been more accommodating or courteous. There was no "you must eat in our restaurant" demand. In fact, the opposite was true, as he told us of all the other great paces to eat in town, but after looking at the...
