Just back from weekend at the ship having been recommended by friend. Does everything it says on the tin but for a very small fee. Excellent staff, spotlessly clean, comfy bed and delicious brekie. Throw in fun pub quiz on Friday night and huge choice of cider beer and great pub grub and what more could you want. Sun even...

My partner and I decided to book a room at the Ship Inn whilst visiting Porlock last autumn. The Inn's sister establishment, known as the 'Bottom Ship' in Porlock Weir was holding a beer and music festival and it sounded fun. We'd used the Ship a couple of times for drinks and once for a meal in the restaurant and...

Four of us were warmly welcomed when we arrived for our overnight stay. We ate in the restaurant area of the pub and were very impressed with the food. The specials included baked mackerel with vegetables, and a whole dressed crab with salad - they were excellent. The rooms were well equipped although the carpets looked a little 'tired'. Other...

We needed a short break to destress. The Top Ship certainly fits the bill. Excellent beers, very good food, comfortable rooms representing value for money. Great staff and even some of the locals recognized from previous visits.

Dog friendly. Professional, polite staff. Exquisite beer and food. The accommodation is very comfortable and clean. Situated in the idyllic village of Porlock, picturesque walks to Porlock Weir - where the "Bottom" Ship inn is situated ( same management) - Bossington , Horner, Dunkery Beacon are on your doorstep. Selworthy, Minehead and Dunster a short drive away or a Long...

My wife and I and our two dogs enjoyed the most relaxing two nights at the Top Ship. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was spacious and well equipped. The beer was marvellous and the food well-priced and well-cooked. With wonderful walking from the pub, what more could you want?

My wife treated me to my 30th birthday weekend away in the Ship inn. It was one of the best weekends I have had away, the staff couldn't have done any more to help. the food was brilliant, and the cider was also brilliant. However we had a shock when we arrived to the room as it has had a...

Stayed here in November with my Dad, his friend and my cousin. Plenty of things to say about this place. Firstly, it's a free house. Not influenced by any brewery or changing owners every 30 seconds. In addition to this, it's an amazing building, thatched roof and black and white sort of set up. It's got a lovely little bar...

We've stayed here 8 times in the last couple of years and I'm somewhat reluctant to review the place as I'd like rooms to be available in the future........ Excellent location, friendly, and fantastic value for money. If you've been out on the moor for the day then you can always get a hearty feed when you return -big portions...

Called for refreshments here mid walk. Bar very welcoming with wood burner going flat out in the corner. Very friendly staff. No complaints. Didn't eat, but saw quite a few meals coming out, they looked well presented and good sized portions. Didn't see anyone grumbling.
