We'd always driven past the sign for this hotel on the way to Alton Towers, so we finally decided to stay one night (sandwiched between two trips to Alton Towers). It really is a lovely hotel and great location. First class service from Liz who gave us the guided tour. Even though it was raining a lot we still sat and had some drinks in the covered veranda with some lovely views. Spotless room with a very comfy bed and had a lovely breakfast the next day. Would definately stay again as great value compared to Alton Towers resort hotels. Also make sure you have a walk and check out the actual Chained Oak (as mentioned in the Hex ride).

Situated literally just across the road from Alton Towers this little B&B is perfect for families who don't want to pay the expensive Alton Towers Hotel prices but want to be within a short walk of the park. We arrived at 9am and although we could not go into our room were greeted and told our room would be ready on our return from the park and were welcome to park at the B&B while we were visiting the park. There was a nice selection of things to eat at breakfast and Liz was very welcoming throughout our stay

Myself and my husband stayed here for 1 night when we went to Alton Towers. The B&B is a short walk (much shorter than the AT carpark to the main park gate!) to the park. Breakfast was delicious, there is plenty of parking and lots of nice places to eat in the local area. The room itself was very clean and tidy and had everything you could need for a short stay. Idyllic setting. No complaints here!

I booked a room here after searching for places near Alton Towers on Tripadvisor. I recieved a quick reply from Liz who reserved a room for a family of 3. When we arrived we were shown to our very clean and warm room. My son went out and enjoyed the farm areas to play. After a good nights sleep and excellent breakfast in the dining room overlooking fields, we walked 10 minutes to Alton Towers and had a great day out. After a seconds good nights sleep and another great breakfast we were sad to leave. Liz is a fantastic host who really makes you feel welcome. This place was also under a third of the price to stay compared to Splashlandings at Alton Towers. We will definatly return

Found the Chained Oak on Google Maps and booked for one night after our day at the theme park. Fantastic setting. Great welcome from the proprietor, Liz who showed us all the facilities and our room in the "stable block". We went for good long walk passed the chained oak tree down into the valley below and along what was once the old railway line. After a very confortable sleep and a good shower, we enjoyed a fine breakfast all for £68 for the two of us. Great value! Would highly recommend.

We stayed here for 2 nights on a trip to Alton Towers. We were in room number 2 in the stable block. The room was spotless & smelled fresh & clean (something I'm a little obsessed with!) on arrival. A cozy room with TV & DVD player and a lovely en-suite. Liz was fabulous and such a warm host, offering advice on where to eat out etc. I would recommend this little B&B to anyone-a fab find

We stayed here for one night on a visit to Alton Towers and we were extremely pleased with our stay. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to visit the park as the walk is not even 10 minutes and saves the £6 parking fee. Liz was a brilliant host and even gave us a lift up to the park because of the snow. The room and breakfast was great. Couldn't have found a better place!

An absolutely amazing place with very helpful hosts. We arrived on Friday night to quite a bit of snow. We were warmly welcomed and showed around. We made the most of being able to sit in the lounge where there was a lovely log fire all stoked up. LIz recommended a place to eat and we weren't disappointed. Room was lovely and comfortable and the shower was lovely and hot and powerful. Breakfast set us up for the day and was lovely to look out at the panoramic view and the very deep snow!! Unfortunately Alton Towers was shut so we didn't get to go there but we are still glad we went and enjoyed our night at Chained Oak. We must also thank the whole of the family for helping us to sift through snow to find my lost mobile phone and car keys which I didn't realise had fallen

I stayed at this B&B on a Thursday night following a visit to Alton Towers and was very impressed. We were able to park at the farm and leave the car before our visit to the park saving us on the £6 car park fee. The farm is a 10 minute walk to the entrance of Alton Towers so a great location. It was small and cosy and our room was lovely- amazing power shower, very warm with heaters and blankets and tv/dvd, comfy bed and tea/coffee. It was a lovely quiet spot and we enjoyed the breakfast (cooked brekkie with cereals and toast). Liz was a lovely host and I thought this was excellent value for money at only £68 for a double room and breakfast- a must if visiting the theme park, very impressed.
