A friend recommened Clifton Cafe and I was not dissapointed. A friendly young man opened the door and sat us down. We had a coffee and chocolate peanut butter cake which was delicious. It is a litle gem of a cafe which I will definately be returning to.

Stayed here for 4 nights with my wife while we were over from Australia visiting Family. We booked a double room, it was a great size with a lovely bathroom and a little entrance lobby. It was spotless with a great shower. There was nothing better then the breakfasts here after a early morning walk down the pier or on...

We knew that this place offered high tea but none of us had have eaten here before. We went for a look round and booked high tea for 40 people to celebrate my dads 80th birthday. As there were so many of us the owner said we could have sole use of the cafe plus the library room at the...

Absolutely loved The Clifton. South Shields was a gorgeous place but the icing on the cake was our accomodation. Such a beautiful establishment. It really was a home away from home for 2 nights. Great breakfast and lovely hosts. Thanks so much. Highlight of our travels.

I couldn't be more complimentary of the place and the staff. Myself and my girlfriend were well looked after. The staff were extremely friendly and supportive when I had to change the details of my booking due to personal conditions unrelated to The Clifton. We appreciate their understanding and it is my opinion that this illustrates what good people are...
