We were upgraded to the four poster room on the first floor with antique/vintage furniture and an ensuite bathroom with a shower over a roll-topped bath. Dinner was served in the candle-lit conservatory and was excellent. Modern British food is served from a menu with...

Well appointed, clean and comfortable room. We had opted for a superior room which was spacious and quiet. The breakfasts were delicious and a good size. (We did not need lunch after.) There is a nearby footpath which takes you down the hill, via a field, to the town.

The reception was welcoming, the rooms clean and the breakfast excellent in a spotless restaurant area, highly recommended. Parking was fine and the menu looked plentiful so I can highly commend this location for business and pleasure purposes. Well done.

Both the owners were very friendly and had time to talk to us. Breakfast was good both days but latest time was 9am which...

I'd heard of the Chequers from sources at work and so having to arrange an overnight quickly I booked in for a night - I only wish that we could have spent longer there! We arrived on one of the stormiest nights of the year and it was so nice to be welcomed by a blast of warmth emanating from...

We booked this hotel for its location, reasonable price and the fact that we needed something quiet and comfortable for a small group of family and friends to stay whilst we attended my father's funeral. I contacted the owner direct, he offered an even better rate than expected, was friendly efficient and helpful. When we arrived, we were not disappointed....
