I recently stayed in a tipee at the Huon Bush Retreats. The tipee consisted of a fold out couch bed, shelving, coffee table and fireplace. The bed was firm but fine. The tipee had plenty of room for my belongings. The deck was terrific. Be prepared for plenty of wildlife. Possums scooting up and down the tipee at night, sneaky...

G'Day Megan, Wow - looks like you engaged with everything we have to offer and really enjoyed your stay :) Lucky you to see the lyre bird. I hear him often but rarely see him. Thanks for visiting and writing a nice review Paul D

Our only regret is that we wished we had known about the availability of dinners. A longer stay would also be great. It's a great base for visiting other attractions but a very peaceful and relaxing place simply to chill out. Very helpful owners.

Hi susiej127, Thanks for visiting. We get a lot of comments that "...A longer stay would also be great...". This really is a great place to spend at least 2 nights so you have a whole day to relax, explore and experience nature. With a few days notice, we can get fresh ingredients and deliver dinner to your cabin as...

This was a great spot for us to rest and unwind. In the heart of the Huon for day trips (Willie Smiths, Ida Bay Railway, Tahune Airwalk, the list is endless) and beautiful surroundings to come back to. The kids had a blast looking for wallabies and possum everyday. We climbed Mt Misery (which is on the property), it was...

Hi Sheela, Thanks for your review of your family holiday just south from Hobart. Sounds like the protected forest and wildlife was just what you wanted. Maybe we will see you again sometime soon. Cheers Paul D

Lovely setting, away from the hustle and bustle of towns. We stayed in Wallaby Grassland Cabin as one of us needs wheelchair access (which worked very well - especially the huge shower room) and it lived up to its name as there were lots of pademelons from late afternoon on. A lot of work has gone into making the trails...

The weather was terrible when we camped at Huon bush retreats but we enjoyed our stay regardless. Great facilities, the covered kitchen with fire pit was very appreciated in the cold and wet weather! Unfortunately we weren't able to do the walk due to weather so we'll have to come back.

Hi nyri, Each Summer, we do get one or two periods of wet weather. This is how Tasmanian rainforest stays lovely and green all year round. We are glad that the fire pit provided you with some relief. We look forward to you returning to do the Mount Misery Walk. Thanks Paul D

A beautiful place to escape from everything, go on well maintained walking tracks through temperate rainforest and indulge in some great local produce. The outdoor bath as always was a highlight - needs a little patience to fill it up but as everything is done so sustainably this is to be expected. Will be back.

G'day Anna and Damo, Glad that you enjoyed and appreciated our sustainability features. Many businesses aim for "carbon neutral" by purchasing credits from other operations. Here at Huon Bush Retreats, we are "carbon positive". That is we take in more carbon than our entire operation puts out. As you experienced, this does mean a little patience is required for some...

Our cabin was set deep in bushland of tall ferns and trees near a small bubbling stream. Far away from other people it is not only quiet but you feel secluded. The cabin is well designed and comfortable. We knew it is is on 12 volt electricity and rainwater so that's fine. A wood fire keeps the cabin warm on...
