Delightful stay at this b&b built in the 1800's. Cottage wasn't at all what I expected but old world charm & cosy fire place made for an enjoyable stay! Perhaps a bit run down & could benefit from a thorough clean & de cobweb, these cottages are so packed with history! Good breakfast provisions & warm welcome by host &... More

This was a gem of a find. We only spent one night here but it was gorgeous. We were left to explore the grounds and nearby Ross. The room was very comfortable and spotless despite being so old. Breakfast supplies were just right. Our night here was a real highlight of our travel from Launceston to Hobart. Take the time... More

Stayed in a genuine historical cottage and experienced the charm and hospitality of a busy and well run working family farm. Warm and cosy fully restored cottage using original methods and materials. Cant wait to stay again.

My family and I stayed in 2 cottages in Somercotes. The cottage is small and cozy. However, the owners did not approach us at all during our stay and are often not there when we need to talk to them. The couple staying at the cottage beside mine was locked inside the house as the key was old and difficult... More

We stayed here for three nights in December and had a wonderful time, the cottages are well restored and cozy. It is a beautiful location and great cherries. It is close to Ross and Campbell town. Would happily stay here again.

I attended a seminar in the meeting room at Somercotes ...... a very pleasant setting with historical buildings and lovely rural atmosphere ........ however, the meeting room was very cold (temp outside about 12 degrees and probably colder inside with inadequate heating) so a warm lunch was an inviting prospect. I had ordered a vegan meal so was really disappointed... More

The family has been looking after this piece of the Midlands for 190 years. It was a privilege to be part of the history, if only for a short time. The history and buildings are intriguing, the gardens beautifully kept. This is history with comfort though - warm, cosy, yummy breakfast supplies, open fire . . . and a warm... More

This property offers a really rare experience in Australia. You are staying on a property with long historical links to the midlands, with owners who are innovative and true stewards of the land. The cottage have so many little touches and details that are interesting not only for their heritage value but for their personal connection to the family that... More
