I stayed here a few weeks ago and thought it was great! The property is (as the name suggests) the old cable station that used to facilitate communications with the mainland and has been converted into a small, boutique B&B with only a handful of rooms. The property is set on a rugged piece of land just outside of Stanley...

We stayed in the Postmaster's cottage, which was incredible - we could easily live there in spacious comfort. Our hosts Euan and Jacqueline (and their lovely dog Eriska) were so welcoming and friendly and made our stay a memorable one. Our dinner at the restaurant was spectacular (congrats on the Restaurant of the Year award guys!) and the surrounds were...

I stayed at the Old Cable Station on the 1st day of my Tasmania trip with my parents, we shared the Telephone Room, the room is very large with a Queen Bed and large Single Bed and a sofa, so plenty of space for 3 people. The only slip up was that there were only 2 chairs at the dining/breakfast...

Stayed for one night, mid-January 2013. The property is located in a very quiet, rural setting a few kilometers outside the villiage of Stanley. The accommodation is a nice blend of historic character and modern comforts. We were in the telegraph room which, for two people is massive; with a bedroom, large ensuite with spa, sunroom with woodstove, and kitchen...

Stayed for 2 nights in December. Stayed in the Technicians Cottage and it was amazing. The first thing I noticed was the old switchboard as you enter the cottage. Really brought back memories of my first job (showing my age!). The cottage had everything we could have wanted and was very cozy. As for the restaurant - you just have...

Second time back here and getting better. Last time it was just for meals which were superb so on a second trip back to Stanley (which we had enjoyed so much the first time) we just had to stay here as well. Not dissapointed! Two couples; we occupied the Technicians Cottage which is superbly fitted out, snug and cosy with...

Ticks all the boxes....comfort, out of the way, great company and conversation if you want it, seclusion and privacy if you want it, fabulous locally sourced food, spectacular landscapes, guest amenities are all locally sourced in Tasmania, intriguing history, talk to Euan and Jacqui or Charlotte about local crayfish, cape grim beef, abalone, stripy trumpeter for the menu before you...

Dinner and a stay at The Old Cable Station is a rare find. We couldn't speak highly enough of our stay, dinner and hosts Euan and Jacqueline. The cottage is spacious, homely and well provisioned with a select range of Tasmanian produce. Location is amazing as is the attention to detail by Euan and Jacqui. We will definitely be back...

We had sampled on a few occassions some of the food that Cable Station is famous for, such as the char-grilled Octopus with basil pesto and balsamic reduction at both Festivale at the Farmer's Market in Launceston, and have always wanted to visit the restaraunt itself due to its use of local produce and isolation - we weren't disapponted. On...
