Have been in Charleston many times and decided to stay here at Captain Johns, after speaking with some local friends who live in Coos. We got a great $ deal on line and decided to spend our anniversary weekend here. No complains from us. I read other comments from Trip Advisors about dirty carpets, bad smells and terribly uncomfortable beds....

We have been going to Charleston for at least 35 years and have always found Capt' John's to be a good place to stay. It is not fancy, but it is clean and comfortable and meets our needs. The price is reasonable.

We paid $85.00 for one night, our room was not ready we checked in, the heater didn't work at all, the refrigerator didn't work AT ALL, there was a roll of saudering wire hanging from the over table lamp???, we had one towel each, way to small to be a body towel with encouragement to not ask for more just...

From other reviews I read yes the building is old and the front desk person does need to be a little friendlier. Once you get to how her she is a great person. The rooms do smell of a lot of cleaner. Just open the window and air it out. If you want a bad motel experience go to Plainview...

if you are a fisherman and you want to fish go there! The hotel is old & run down a bit but it was clean and had everything we needed. The walls are paper thin so be prepared to hear your neighbor. It is in a great location near the pier and the parks it was just fine for our...

This would have been the 11th hotel our tour group would have stayed at in our coastal tour. It's the first I'm writing a review about. Our group was having fun over by the beach/dune area. We liked the area enough that we wanted to stay for dinner and decided to get hotels. We needed 3 rooms. I made the...

It's a decent room. Not bad for the price we paid. The water pressure is lovely. Squeaky beds. There's a fridge, microwave, tv (we couldn't get it to work past the main screen though), heater(which worked out after hunting for oysters)! We did find old soap in our shower which was disturbing considering these hotels are suppose to be deep...

The location is why we stayed here. It is right next to the marina and we were doing some summer family fishing. The room had an odd odor, like mold and cleaning products similar to a shampooed wet rug. It is right next to the bay. The TV is ancient and didn't work, the wifi is non existent, and the...

Older and quaint setting perfect with fishing boats and restaurants near by. The room was clean but the sign said Non Smoking room but you could tell previous tenants smoked in the bathroom. Had to run the bathroom fan and keep the front door and windows open for a while to air it out. You could tell the hotel was...

Mgr Jan would not give me a pet room because I had booked with Booking.com. Had to cancel reservation and rebook with her to get a pet room. Major hassle and NOT worth it. This place is old and smells like mold. Don't stay here.
