My husband and I had been traveling for a month and were getting a little "road weary", so we decided that we would have a short day of driving. We stopped for gas at the Pilot station and asked if there were any motels/hotels in the area. The attendant told us about the Dawson House Lodge. We were able to...

The room was adequate. So much for the good news. Dawson house is located directly on Highway 97 with only a few tens of feet separating the highway from the lodge. This highway is a major trucking route connecting eastern Washington, Oregon, and California. As if the constant noise from the passing trucks wasn't bad enough, directly across the street...

If it's 1 yr from your visit, book Crater Lake Lodge. For non-winter visit when you can be sure park's north entrance is open, Dawson is a civilized choice - microwave, fridge, dish TV, hot water, 24 hr coffee, DVD library. Clean and cheap: $87 for triple. Also right next to Amtrak train station. Good briefing material on park. Told...

When we drove up to the Lodge I was surprised at the condition of the building. It needs a quite a bit of work. The room itself had some good points and bad points. The bathroom was clean and the towels were new and plentiful. The claw tub bathtub/shower was very charming, but an older person may have difficulty getting...

As close as most towns outside Crater Lake. I think there were 2 choices in town. I found this to be modest and older, but clean and staff was extremely helpful. It served the purpose very well for me!

The Dawson House is a nice place to stay but it really needs some improvements. There are so much nick knacks around that it appears junky. They also need to update the furniture so it is more comfortable. The beds were really comfortable tho.

If you want to stay on the north side of Crater Lake and can't get into (or afford) the lodge, there are not a lot of choices. The Dawson House Lodge is a mixed bag - I liked the old fashioned aspects like keeping reservations on a paper calendar and the owner/manager? was very friendly and helpful. I also liked...

A couple of months ago my boyfriend and I had just gotten off the train and needed somewhere to stay before driving back home in the morning. This hotel was the closest to the tracks so we stopped in. We asked about a room for the night and were given an outrageous price for the "couples suite". I asked the...

Loved the accommodations and the close proximity to Crater Lake. The hotel has such a wonderful history. We had a great nights rest and the host was very friendly. The bathroom was clean and each room was decorated differently which gave it a homey feel. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would come back again. The general store next...

It's small and you'll miss it if you blink, but it's a great place for the traveler stopping for the night in between destinations. It's quaintly furnished, the room had a queen bed and a twin bed, great for families. The office offered DVDs to use in room.
