My husband and I enjoyed staying at this property in March. The birthday bash was going on and since we're passport holders, we also got to enjoy the 6 clue scavenger hunt. There's a secret room and hallway passage on the top floor that you should check out. The food & atmosphere were great. The beds were hard and not...

Happy belated anniversary Tanmansmom! Thank you for taking time out to tell us about your special weekend. It is nice to read about your stay. I cannot think of a better occasion to enjoy a Romance package. Then you add in the Grand Lodge 95th birthday in the same weekend makes the perfect combination for a great time. It is...

We had a late lunch at the Grand Lodge and enjoyed it from start to finish. Only one complaint. Waiter was terrific... attentive, spot-on in his timing for checking in with us, and friendly. But he didn't ask one key question; did we want our salads with our meal or before? Consequently, all the food arrived at the same time....

After visiting/staying at the McMenamins Kennedy School in Portland several times, and visiting the soaking pool at their Bend property, we wanted to check out this location and their soaking pool. The property is huge and incredible, with so many charming little details and fascinating local art and history. There's enough to discover here that it would take 5 visits...

Thank you for your candid review. It is nice to read about visits to different locations. The bend location as well as Kennedy are spectacular. So fun and so uniquely different. I think the diversity of McMenamins makes them a special treasure. I'm glad you enjoyed the soaking pool while staying at the lodge as well as partaking in the...

Visiting the area from the beach in Lincoln City; geocaching. Decided to dodge the raindrops and grab a burger and dark beer. Food came quickly and at a reasonable price. Great atmosphere and good service. Enjoyed our visit. Could easily recommend this restaurant to both family and friends.

Rick this sounds like a cool way to spend the day. I have heard of geocaching but have never participated in the fun. Perhaps I will give it a try. Thanks for the review of the dining experience. The burger and a brew is always a good time. Were all thankful you stopped by. Until next time happy journeys.

There were 3 of us, all adults. It was snowing when we went, made the lodge look magical. A typical McMenamins experience, quirky and charming and fun. Seeing as it is a historic property, it's a bit of a drive from downtown Portland. The hotel room was very quiet, had a toilet separate from the shower. The restaurant in the...

This hotel has some unique features - particularly interesting artwork and an interesting history. Some aspects, though, were not useful for my situation. The evening meals were not good (I had three and none was really satisfactory), the room was not cleaned well, the lighting in the room is not good and there is no desk, the rooms do not...

The lodge itself is really neat, lots of interesting things to see and do, however if you stay here do not stay on the 3rd floor! The just finished remodeling this floor and the paint fumes were so strong it gave me a headache and a sore throat. In addition our room was painted, floor to ceiling in really dark...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Make a grand escape to McMenamins Grand Lodge! It's all in the details here, with the stately columns and winding drive, wide green lawn, 77 European-style guestrooms, restaurants, movie theater and small bars and some of the most fantastic artwork to ever grace these walls. Built in 1922 as a Masonic & Eastern Star home, the Grand Lodge has stories to tell. Renovated and opened by McMenamins in 2000, what was once tranquil and serene is now vibrant and colorful. Here the walls do speak... As do the doorways, the hallways, and even the overhead pipes. (Look up...)Inspired by the history of the city of Forest Grove and the building itself, McMenamins' artists have infused the Grand Lodge with original artwork and historical photographs - all tributes to the cast of characters who left their mark before us. ... more   less
