The McMenamins empire is known for thoughtful and creative renovations with a lot of personality and this hotel is no exception. Quirky art everywhere, most with references to the building's or town's history; a lovely sitting room/library on the first floor; really cool rooftop bar; a location right in the middle of town. Unfortunately we happened to be there on...

While traveling through Oregon, we stayed at the Hotel Oregon and were amaze with the history and artistry within this facility. Each room is named for a historical person related to the hotel, with each room having a hand painted paragraph identifying the associated person including their likeness. The artwork goes on to include paintings on the walls and even...

We knew it was going to be unusual and are up for that, but there were a few quirks that I couldn't get past. I had a hard time with the smell, it's smelled like bug spray. The food was ok, very limited menu, (4 items) and sadly the wine was run of the mill. The roof top bar was...

Hi Avid, Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. I am not sure what you meant about the menu being limited, we have separate full menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I will contact you privately for more details.

We stayed in a room w/ bath at $125 per night. The hotel has perfect location, the staff bustles around with lots of vitality, the common areas are quaint and inviting -- the room was tiny, slightly musty and had no furniture to accommodate the normal traveler's gear. The rooftop bar is great, the library opposite the front deak is...

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your room. One of the challenges with a historic hotel can be room size. Even though our rates are very competitive with the area, actually the best rates downtown, I understand some of our smaller rooms, even with a private bath, may not be what...

This was our third stay over the course of a couple years and once again we had a great time. As other reviewers have pointed out this place isn't for everyone, do your homework. It can indeed be loud, most rooms are indeed very small with the bathroom down the hall, there's no parking, but it's a unique piece of...

The only option in town, except for sterile chains. A fun and funky vibe in a great downtown location, but its historic charm is also its downfall. Quite noisy, with hallway sounds and plumbing to other rooms passing across the ceiling. (Fortunately, they provide earplugs on the nightstands.) Paid about $60 extra for a small private bathroom with a plastic...

I wrote sort of the basic review earlier so this is more of an update on that review with the same 5 star rating. When I return to McMinnville Oregon this will be my home away from home. I love Mac. I always have and I've always missed it. You'll find me here when I'm not in my own house...

A fun place to stay in the heart of Willamette Valley's wine country. This is a McMenamins property, a company that is known to restore old historical buildings into hotels and restaurants. You will feel as though you went back many decades as you enter this fine old brick building. Our room looked out to the main street of McMinnville...

My second McMennamin's stay and first at Hotel Oregon. It just fit the bill for what we were doing meeting friends visiting Oregon from New Jersey. Easy and friendly 2pm check in on Sunday afternoon. Plenty of parking (free on the street all day on Sunday and thru 11 am on Monday). My room was small, clean and was the...

This is my second stay at Hotel Oregon. My first stay was a little better as I wasn't traveling with children. This time I was traveling with my three children: 12, 9 and 6 and we stayed in Room 409: queen bed with shared bathroom. Front Desk staff was friendly on check-in. We had been swimming all day at Wings...

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that your stay was not as you hoped. I appreciate all of your comments, and truthfully, our hotels may not be for everyone. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
On McMinnville's charming, old main street, Hotel Oregon strikes an inviting pose - as it has since 1905. Once home to a restaurant and lounge, banquet hall, Greyhound bus depot, Western Union, soda fountain and beauty parlor, the handsome four-story building we call Hotel Oregon is a delightful destination in the heart of Oregon's wine country.Warm lighting in the first floor pub, cozy tables and an impressive 40-foot long back bar invite close conversation over the glint of a fresh pint or maybe a game of shuffle board in the Paragon room. Artwork and wall hangings inspire thoughts of the past and a trip to the subterranean bistro-style Cellar Bar or magnificent Rooftop Bar (with its breathtaking 360-degree view of the region) are a must for any visitor to the hotel. ... more   less
