This was our second stay at the Agate Beach Motel; and what better recommendation can there be than that? The suites are cozy and charming and have everything you need for a home away from home, including fresh coffee grounds and half and half in...More

Yes, you are truly "at the beach"! Thank you for this review; I'm so glad you decifiered the difference between chain properties and privately owned and operated properties.

Outside of motel is looking somewhat aged but the rooms have been nicely upgraded with just about everything you will need.
The view of the beach is fantastic, while the walk down the stairs to it is not as bad as it looks.

Yes, the buildings were built in the 1940"s and it is a constant battle to keep them updated. We choose to keep the vintage style against most advisors, because it makes Agate Beach Motel unique and not a "cookie cutter" motel.
Thank you so much...More

My Wife and I have always enjoyed staying at the Agate Beach Motel over the years. I proposed to my Wife on the beach below Agate Beach Motel 14 years ago. This time we witnessed a severe winter storm. We were amazed at the power...More

Thank you Michael!!! So glad you shared your memories of past stays at Agate Beach Motel. Winters are often the most scenic with the storms and dramatic sunsets. We occasionally have to bring out the candles for light.
We appreciate you taking the time to...More

About a mile south of the motel towards Newport, on the east side of 101 is the Chalet (between Safeway and Fred Meyer), recommended to us by the motel mgmt. I second their recommendation!! They have their own bakery and are famous for the breads and desserts. A favorite of locals, less touristic than many restaurants. But there are many good places to eat in Newport, just not within walking distance for me.
