I staid at the Bidwell while my home was having some work done. I booked a locals package that included an additional food and beverage credit and valet parking. Upon arrival, I parked outside the hotel and there was no valet. I waited for a few minutes and nothing. I grabbed my bags, locked my car and walked inside to find the valet at a stand inside looking at their phone. They took my keys and issued me a tag and said 20-30 minutes to collect the car. I then waited in line for 30 minutes while the two people in front of me also waited to be checked in. When I finally reached the desk, the associate was unfamiliar with the package and the Bonvoy program and couldn't a) offer any of the benefits b) said I was ineligible for the elite lounge as a platinum c) would be charged for parking and d) would somehow not be charged the resort/ammenity fee (spoiler: I was). They also denied the extra food and beverage credit advertised in their package and included in my reservation email. During the first night of my stay my Amex account kept notifying me of miscellaneous charges to my account in 20 to 30 increments, 6+ hours after checkin. I asked the front desk who indicated they made no charges and spent two hours with amex trying to cancel the charges till 1 am in the morning. The bar was short staffed at dinner and at breakfast and the poor staff was rushing around. They offered me a spoon and knife both times due to a lack of clean forks. They also ran out of paper napkins at breakfast as well. Checking out, it took 45 minutes to get my car because the person in front of me refused to go back to their hotel room to get their valet ticket, which resulted in the valet trying to politely tell the they could not just hand over the keys (alternatively, the valet asked for their ID and they refused that too), so I had to wait while they argued to get my car. At $55 dollars a day, the valet service is a sham - if not under-serviced, then ill-equipped to handle these issues. I'm still working with my credit card company to resolve improper charges for a one night stay. Never again.

The hotel was ok, rooms were great. At checkout I was told i would get an emailed receipt. I also mentioned at check-in AND at checkout that the property fee was already paid through my booking site. Well, i never received an emailed receipt and was charged the property fee again. I called the hotel tonight and was told by a very rude person, that since this is a Marriott and I booked through Expedia i don't get a receipt or a refund on the propeety fee and he basically doesn't care that i was overbilled. I don't understand how you can charge me for parking, property fee and food without providing a receipt upon request.

The hotel was great and the staff were friendly. Walking distance to most areas and easy access by public transport to Wahington Park. The area round and outside the hotel was heavily occupied with homeless people, making it feel unsafe, especially in the evening. Lots of work is ongoing to improve the area, but more support is needed for the homeless.

This hotel is pretty great - staff are friendly, food is just plain excellent (serious Kudos to the chefs, even breakfast was top-notch), and the rooms are clean and modern. Not only that, but the rooms are pretty sound proof! I know this because my room neighbor screamed his head off and hurled obscenities for about 20 minutes to some poor soul on the phone call he was on, but it was FAINT, which I was very pleasantly surprised by. Hotel valet also hustle and get cars out quickly, which was appreciated. However, it’s been some time since I was in Portland and it’s clear that it’s really gone downhill. Lots of erratic homeless actively doing drugs in the area. I didn’t feel safe to leave the hotel at all, which is a first for me (and I’ve stayed in Baltimore). West side Portland is not great, so if safety is a concern, stay east side. However, if you have to be on the west side, this hotel is very excellent.

I always love Portland, and the Bidwell on SW Broadway makes me feel right at home in the city. Very friendly vibe, comfortable beds, and two quiet nights. The M Club has tasty beers on tap and frosty mugs to serve them in. Excellent fitness centre. Will stay here again!

The Bidwell was updated and the staff very informative and friendly. It's in a convenient location for walking around downtown Portland - riverfront park, courthouse square, voodoo donuts, etc. and Lyft service comes in 5 minutes. One note is that the hotel puts a $25 destination charge on the bill each night that can be used as a credit in their on-premise restaurant. The front desk did make that clear at checkin, so the charge is not hidden from the guests. Even if you go to another restaurant, I suggest having a cocktail in the Bidwell restaurant since it's a "use or lose" nightly charge

We stayed at the Bidwell for a short visit after our Alaskan cruise out of Seattle Washington. Upon arrival, I experienced extreme dental pain and was having trouble being able to bite many foods. Anna from the the high horse went above and beyond to help me. She recommended some pasta for me that would be easy to swallow, she found salt packets for me to bring back to my room, and she genuinely was concerned for me. The next night she even checked in on me when we went back to the bar. This was greatly appreciated knowing the pain I was in and the fact that I couldn’t get home for a few more days. She is a true asset to your hotel staff!

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, in the heart of Portland; however, difficult to access for disabled guests. The curb in front of the hotel is extremely high so disabled guests who use a walker or cane may need to walk all the way down to the curb cutout and back up to the entrance of the hotel, walking in traffic if a vehicle is already parked in the designated handicapped parking spot. The beds are on the low side which can be difficult for guests with certain kinds of mobility restrictions (my husband has cerebral palsy and a spinal fusion so low furniture is difficult for him). The ADA bathroom is a relatively low tub/shower combination with a bench so showering requires the ability to transfer to and from the shower bench so keep that in mind if you require an accessible room. Breakfast was good, and you do get a $25 discount on your spending at the restaurant for the resort fee. We would probably not stay here again as we would drive to any place we would like to go in Portland; however, if you are wanting to walk, the location is great for central Portland.

Stayed here for the weekend. Sadly (nothing to do with hotel) Portland is just gone downhill, so our weekend was dampened by the situation in the city. That being said - the main areas - lobby + bar was nice, modern and clean. The lady behind the bar, Eastern European I believe had a bit of an attitude, and it was quite obvious. All other staff 5 stars and couldn't do enough for us. Reception team awesome! Room was spacious enough, nice big bed, but it looked like someone stopped cleaning midway. It wasn't vacuumed, the shampoo/conditioner and shower gel bottles were all empty and we had to request to change the bedding. So yeah that was not ideal.
