During a recent trip to the Oregon coast, we decided to stay in Portland for a couple of days at the end of our trip. Trying to find a hotel in the Portland area as a last minute idea proved to be tricky. Hotels in Portland are ridiculously expensive or in places you wouldn't want to take your family too.

The Eastside Lodge actually presented a budget friendly stay, in a decent location, that ended up being so convenient that we couldn't have picked better had we been trying.

The rooms were quite a bit larger than I was expecting, and the were very clean and comfortable. I quite enjoyed the front desk staff as well. Friendly and quick with the jokes which made the little ones laugh.

The location is perfect. There are quite a few places to eat around the hotel. There is a bridge that takes you right into downtown just a couple of blocks away. The Tilikum Crossing Bridge and the Children's Museum are about a mile away. The Moda Center is also really close.

The only real complaint that I have is the parking. There are very few parking spots in the lot so anybody coming back late will very likely have to find a place to park off-site.

Great location. Decent room in an older property. Comfortable and clean bed and good coffee. Quiet considering the urban location.

The negatives were that the room could use a deep cleaning and some attention to detail. There were marks of some sort of material on the wall, the towels had some minor staining. Some guests were smoking outside the stairwells.

Outlets were old style and couldn't easily accommodate charge blocks. If you were to deep clean and shine the room, install a power strip or two, provide some disposable towelettes of some sort so the people won't use the toweling for nefarious purposes. Also designate a more out of the way smoking area and enforce it. Put a few cameras around...You'd be on track, if you did that plus updated the bathrooms you'd be on track for fives. Old travel lodges are cool.

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed our great location, comfortable and clean bed, and the quality of our coffee. We appreciate your constructive comments as well, as they help us improve our guest experience. We take your suggestions seriously and will look into the following areas of improvement: Deep cleaning and attention to detail in our rooms to address any marks or staining. Exploring options to update our outlets to accommodate modern charge blocks. Providing disposable towelettes for added convenience. Designating and enforcing a more appropriate smoking area. Considering the installation of cameras for security. We understand that small changes can make a significant difference in enhancing the guest experience, and your input is highly valuable in this regard. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with an even more enjoyable stay. Warm regards

We stayed here for a couple of nights on our recent Oregon road trip. We liked it so much, we stayed again on our return-swing back north. It used to true that the decor is very dated, but the furniture is well kept and the beds very comfortable. We were happy with how clean the rooms were and the grounds of the hotel itself.
The location of the hotel can’t be beat. About a 20 minute easy walk to the city centre. In the immediate area there are plenty of restaurants and nightlife; (albeit the rooms are quiet at night!) and there is easy access to interstate.
To top it off, the front desk staff were great. The young woman who checked us in was extremely pleasant and an absolute joy to talk to.

I booked a night here after a long flight, based on the location. I was thinking it was one of those renovated hip former dive motel, but in this case it's just a dive. The "non-smoking" room clearly had been smoked in for a long time – it had that smell of decades of tobacco smoke plus the classic scent of cheap motel disinfectant. The bed was the most uncomfortable I've slept on in ages. Like sleeping on a park bench, under a paper bag blanket, but without the fresh air. The lights were cold and harsh. The toilet paper holder was literally falling out of the wall. Welp, get what ya pay for, I guess.

We picked this hotel because it was only about $100 for the room and a spot in the parking lot was included. The room and bed were comfortable, and we couldn't hear our neighbors like some other reviews mentioned. The staff was also pleasant.

the front desk guy that was there when i checked in made the stay a 5 stars before i even fully checked in. he was funny and made sure i was able to get to my room, being on a knee scooter didn’t make it easy task to not fall with the snow. the pillows were the best. they were the right amount of soft and stiff. if i ever come back to portland, i know where i will be staying!

Quiet and comfortable room. The building is a bit older, but well maintained with newer amenities in the rooms I stayed in. Parking is included and is clean. If you’re looking for a no-frills place to stay, this is it. This building is located near many restaurants and coffee shops that are all within walking distance.

very large bed for a single queen, had really good and friendly front desk service, and was very glad it was temperature controlled (I thought initially they would only have AC, but there was a thermostat too). The fridge size was a large minifridge. Location was convenient, walkable to go to the Oregon Convention Center. Housekeeping did a good job, everything was clean with no bugs. The front desk also has a list of walkable restaurants posted which was a really nice addition!
