Finished a one-week stay. Actually had two rooms, originally booked for 7 and 9 nights. The 9-night room was upgraded from a studio King to a View Studio King, and then further upgraded to a View 1-Bedroom King when I asked for the two rooms to be near each other. Perfectly happy with both rooms' layouts, quality of the hard product throughout the hotel, and staff was always very friendly, kind and helpful. Our view was ok, at first I thought it was boring and nothing special, but when you pay attention it becomes nicer. Could even see Mount Hood in the distance. Presuming this is a newer hotel...they've still maintained it well, it is operated and managed very well, and all guests seemed to be quite happy. Breakfast was set up in a covid protocol type of way, with all items grab and go. BUT, this was the best grab and go breakfast I've seen. Again, really well-oiled machine of an operation...and overall one of the better HH breakfasts I've had despite the nature of its set up. There is a very large second floor patio that we enjoyed sitting at for several meals. Streetcar stop directly in front of the hotel made for convenient transit into the heart of downtown or to go east across the river. We decided not to rent a vehicle due to the $45 nightly rate. Instead used zipcar for some grocery runs with four zipcars located in the garage basically across the street from the hotel. Family emergency had us shorten both rooms by 2...so 5 and 7 nights instead. Hotel was cool with making those adjustments with no penalties, although we did inform them on day 2 plus my rate for both rooms was quite a bit lower than what the current rate was so probably an easy decision for them. We really enjoyed our stay (the neighborhood is quite nice with great restaurants along the riverfront) and would be happy to return to this hotel, despite the allure of trying out different neighborhoods in future visits.…
Excellent customer service by the hotel staff, clean rooms, and the Portland Waterfront location with restaurants, shops and the Portland Street Car/Max trains is excellent!!! No hot breakfast at this time; just continental which we knew, but plenty of places around to go and get a latte or good food.
Staff was very helpful & our room was beautiful. Would stay again. I neglected to close the curtains so the sunshine woke us (my fault not the hotels). Staff even let us leave our luggage in a secure location so we didn’t need to leave with our car at check out.
The hotel was clean and the staff was kind. Also my room had anything I expected and everything worked perfectly fine. Only the mattress was a little to hard for my opinion. Only real critic was the breakfast. It was not very varied and it was packed in a lot of plastic. Maybe this is still due to Covid. However, in other hotels (Germany) they used reusable containers which produces much less plastic trash. Therefore I removed one point from service and cleanness.
Beware there is no more customer parking. I was shocked to be forced to surrender my keys and vehicle to a stranger as a requirement to dine at this establishment. This restaurant has been my all time favorite since it was The Hillvilla, but I won’t be back if Im forced to let strangers inside my vehicle, especially with all the covid outbreaks in this city. Hopefully enough people will complain to change this, because I really like the restaurant.
Check-in was smooth and the room was beautiful, but the corridors of my floor smelled of animal urine. The hot breakfast was convenient but the selection was disappointingly sparse for the one hot option. Very convenient location with restaurants, dispensary, and river all walkable. Would recommend overall.
This hotel has not front entrance for handicap access. Metered parking only on the street, and a ticketing police system looking to make money off the visitors ready to shove $45 tickets on visiting cars if trying to unload handicapped people to then move a car. All handicap features seem like an afterthought and poorly established within the room and hotel. Staff too busy to help for the most basic of things and always at least one person in a grumpy mood at the desk. Other issues were present but this is the most important thing I want to get across to those with handicap people visiting, look elsewhere.
This hotel is very well located for those who enjoy walking and having a flavor of local Portland life! It is beautifually located near the river, and within walking distance of all downtown attractions.
We have stayed at this location twice before and love the location, rooms and the staff. The staff is very welcoming at the front desk, and very easy process for check-in and check out as well. Even the local transportation is right in front of the hotel.
I was traveling on business and found that the staff were so friendly and accommodating. The room was lovely, the food and drinks at the bar were great. The location was fantastic down by the river front. I would stay at the Hyatt House again if I ever get back to Portland.
