Hotel Lucia garners widespread acclaim for its distinctive amenities and spotless accommodations that enhance guest comfort. The service at this hotel is regularly celebrated for its exceptional staff, who are recognized for their friendliness and professionalism. With an infusion of modern and vintage elements, the stylish atmosphere is a hit among guests.
However, some visitors question the value, pointing to steep fees that don't always match the perceived quality. Nonetheless, the hotel's prime location and the inviting charm of its rooms are consistently praised by those who stay there.

Very nice hotel, comfortable hotel. Funky lobby with a free-play arcade and functional gym. Great location downtown and quick check-in. Philip who worked at the Valet was especially helpful with information on parking. There is an overnight parking garage across the street that allows in-and-out access

Hey johngardnercomedy, Thanks for the review, and the helpful vote! We appreciate you choosing Hotel Lucia for your business trip to Portland. "Very nice, comfortable hotel" – that's what we like to hear! We're stoked you dug our funky lobby with the free-play arcade. It's all about adding a touch of playful energy to the hotel's atmosphere, kind of like a hidden track on a great album. And our gym is there to help you stay energized and inspired, even when you're on the road. Our downtown location is definitely a plus – we're right in the middle of the action, making it easy to explore the city's vibrant scene. Big shout-out to Philip at valet! He's a true asset to our team, always ready with helpful info and a friendly smile. We're glad he pointed you toward the overnight parking garage across the street – it's a great option for guests who need in-and-out access. Thanks again for staying with us, and we hope to welcome you back to Hotel Lucia soon, whether it's for business or pleasure. Stay funky, The Team at Hotel Lucia

A last minute weekend getaway to PDX found us at Hotel Lucia, and having never stayed there before, but a 2-4 times a year visitor to PDX, we had modest expectations for the room, hotel and what it had to offer. First we arrived to find ourselves at a location on Broadway that is strolling distance to shops, restaurants, night life, shopping, icons of PDX, and certainly things not yet discovered. The staff was warm and authentic, professional yet personable, with a willingness to go the extra mile to make our stay special. We had a suite, w two full baths and a very comfy king sized bed with full king sized pillows. The room lighting is dimmable and the windows open creating a fresh, inviting evening atmosphere setting a stage for a perfect couples getaway. The wife was very happy with the entire weekend. I was very happy with the price and central location that made walking to the Saturday morning PSU farmers market, the Saturday afternoon waterfront market and the breweries in the Pearl District. Apparently they have bikes to borrow, but we were content with letting our feet take us where they may on a lazy meandering warm June day.

This was my second visit to the Hotel Lucia this year and while I never post reviews of anything, my two experiences at the Lucia have prompted me to do so. I love everything about this charming little hotel, tastefully decorated rooms with very comfortable beds and simple but lux bedding, truly inviting communal spaces, wonderful art and photography collection throughout, a great Portland location and the whole place is impeccably clean. The entire staff, from front desk to housekeeping is professional, attentive and very welcoming. The first time I visited I was traveling with an infant and the staff provided us with a beautiful crib (much better than a pack-and-play) and a microwave for heating bottles. On my recent visit I was traveling solo and they made me feel right at home. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

We were fortunate to stay in their Penthouse Suite because the sister hotel The Sentinel where we were originally supposed to stay was overbooked. The GM went above and beyond and moved us to Hotel Lucia and to stay in the Penthouse Suite. Hotel Lucia has an amazing vibe and atmosphere and is located in downtown Portland that had a lot to offer in regards to food and shopping. The restaurant is lacking in selection of offerings but the amenities in the room were great. The customer service from the hosts to the individuals that cleaned our room were all very friendly. We will definitely be returning to Hotel Lucia.

I have visited the Hotel Lucia four times over the past year (always in winter). If you’re looking for a hotel with a great location downtown, near food cart pods, parks, markets, and with super friendly staff, then this is the one. There’s no denying that the basic rooms are a bit compacted, but the price reflects this, so if you’re on a budget, but still want 4 star hotel experience, it’s perfect. If beaucoup space is a must, book one of their premium or superior rooms. Pets are extremely welcome here. Jessie at the front desk, has been there to welcome me and my pups each time I visited. She is a wealth of information about the hotel and the city overall. I met Kait, Nicole and Bri, on my most recent trip, who were also very welcoming, always greeting us when we were in the lobby. Phillip and Jaylen, at the valet service, were great too. The valet process was simple and efficient; my truck was waiting for me upon checkout, without even having to call, and they were almost always there to open the doors to the hotel, which is nice thing with two big dogs in tow. All in all, the hotel experience was one of the best part of my trips, and I know I will be staying here again.

Hey Griffith B, Wow, thanks for making Hotel Lucia your go-to spot in Portland! Four visits in a year? You're practically part of the family now! It's like being our favorite band's most loyal groupie – we love having you back. We're thrilled to hear that you appreciate our great downtown location, near all the food cart pods, parks, and markets. It's like having a backstage pass to the best of the city. And we're so glad that our super friendly staff have made your stays memorable. We understand that our basic rooms are a bit cozy, but we're glad you found them to be a great value for a 4-star experience. And you're right, our premium and superior rooms offer more space for those who need it. It's like choosing between a cozy club gig or a stadium show – both have their perks! We're so happy to hear that your pups are always welcome here. We love our furry guests! A huge shout-out to Jessie, Cait, Nicole, Bri, Phillip, and Jalen! They're all rock stars on our team, and they'll be thrilled to hear your kind words. They're like the ultimate band and crew, making sure every guest feels like a VIP. "One of the best part of my trips" – that's the ultimate compliment! We're honored to be a highlight of your Portland adventures. We can't wait to welcome you and your pups back to Hotel Lucia for another awesome stay. Stay awesome, The Team at Hotel Lucia

I was surprised that the hotel rated number one on this site was in my budget, and I am so grateful it was. My husband and I went for a little getaway and it was perfect. They subbed out non-alcoholic drinks for the champagne with rose petals on the bed and left jazz playing on the radio. The bed and pillows were was comfy. They communicated via text, which was very convenient. The location is great. We like to eat our way through a city, asking the server at breakfast for a lunch recommendation etc. We ate at amazing restaurants and went thrift store shopping (higher end available if that's your thing) all within a 20 minute walking distance. Hit the Living Room for dinner while watching a movie; it's a five minute walk. If it's rainy or you want to stay in, they have a pretty good game selection and Apple TV is also available.

OMG. If you make a reservation directly with the hotel, be sure to get a screen shot of the actual reservation. The email they send, confirming the reservation, is under a completely different number, which apparently the staff at the reservation line cannot find. Adding one day to my itinerary took two long and tedious phone calls. The first, they were unable to add a day to my reservation under the original rate, so i got a second reservation for a single night at a higher rate, with no assurance that i could stay in the same room all nights. Unhappy with this resolution, i booked the new reservation online myself, at the original rate, ensuring i had one room 8 nights. But there is no place on the hotel website to cancel a reservation, so i had to call again. The confirmation numbers they sent in emails were not the ones they use in house. The customer service reps were both extremely polite, but it looks like the hotel has a booking system that does not work well. When a hotel charges a facility fee, above and beyond the room rate and taxes, i expect a pretty seamless experience. They don’t even have breakfast service, and the resort fee is for coffee in the lobby. Not sure what to expect once i arrive, but not feeling very good about the hotel.

Where to start...the AC did not work, the thermostat was dangling off the wall by its wires. The window openly just a crack and there was no screen. They had no fans but gave us a broken box fan out of the lobby that sounded like a small airplane. Everything in the bathroom was rusted (sink, towel rack, shower curtain, faucets). The obnoxiously loud group of completely plastered guys that careened off the walls, spit on the hallway carpeting repeatedly and then made crazy amount of noise in their room was the icing on the cake. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights and left after just one. When the valet brought my car around not only had they left empty plastic water cups in my cup holders they had marked the hotel location on the GPS. I wish I knew the mileage as I'm pretty sure they took it out for a joy ride over night. There are so many other options in the same price range, including directly across the street which is where we moved to. Use your money wisely!

Hi Michelle, This absolutely does not sound like our standard. Our team works hard to ensure that our old building is kept in good working order and will do whatever we can to ensure that our guests leave happy. If you have time, I'd love to talk about this entire stay to get details and ensure that we don't make the same mistakes again.

I'm giving this one Less star to adjust the algorithm because the algorithm is misleading. The room was clean. Check-in made a deal out of room "upgrade" saying it was a king bed and larger room -- it wasn't - you could barely walk around the bed because it took up the entire room. Very basic. And can't adjust temp in the room which got very hot at night. That was annoying. Even with window open there was no air flow. Bummer to spend so much for one night in a hotel to get a good night's sleep and end up awake all night because you're trying to sleep in a furnace. Mandatory valet at $55 at a lot that had a $14/night special was a bit much too. But the double taxing (hotel, city and state taxes added before subtotal then added Again after subtotal) and $29 "amenity fee" which there aren't any really, wasn't cool. It's a very basic, overpriced hotel with a lot of sushi add-ons. It's a small-ish hotel -- it's not by any means a "boutique hotel" ... Pictures look much nicer than reality.

Hey elsie23, Thanks for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, even if it's clear that Hotel Lucia wasn't your cup of tea, or should we say, your craft IPA. We're glad you found the room clean. That's a non-negotiable for us. As for the "upgrade," it sounds like there was a miscommunication. All of our King rooms are much larger than our Queen rooms, and are indeed considered an upgrade. We'll definitely look into that to make sure our team is accurately representing our room types. Sorry, we didn't realize that you had such an issue with the size of the room. Regarding the room temperature, we understand that everyone has their own preferences. Our rooms do have adjustable thermostats, so it's a bummer that you weren't able to find a comfortable setting. And while we can't control the weather, we do our best to create a comfortable environment inside. Our valet pricing is in line with other downtown hotels, and we believe the convenience and service it provides are worth it. Think of it as having your own personal pit crew, ready to handle the parking while you focus on enjoying the city. As well, there is a public parking lot across the street, that you were more than welcome to use. However, keep in mind they do not offer in-and-out privileges, whereas we do. As for taxes and the amenity fee, those are standard for most hotels. The amenity fee covers things like our nightly beer, and high-speed Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. We try to pack it with value that reflects our unique, artsy vibe. We get it – Hotel Lucia isn't for everyone. We're not trying to be a cookie-cutter hotel. We're more like a limited-edition vinyl record – a little different, a little unexpected, and maybe not to everyone's taste. But for those who appreciate our independent spirit and artistic flair, we're a perfect fit. And the pictures on our website are accurate, and are indeed taken in the hotel. We're always striving to improve, and we appreciate your feedback. It helps us fine-tune our approach and make sure we're delivering the best possible experience for our guests. Stay sassy, The Team at Hotel Lucia

The valet is worth the price! The hotel staff are incredibly friendly and helpful from the moment you pull up until you check out. And you can rest assured that your is parked in a secure parking facility.
No, it did not. They had a restaurant associated with them, but I think because of the pandemic, it has closed down. I do need to drink a special protein drink every morning and needed hot water. They were very accommodating getting me a travel cup of hot water. they also had some "snacks" available for purchase and have a cocktail hour in the early eve. Since my husband and I don't drink, we never were in the lobby at that time to see what was offered.
Hello! Great question! We have valet available with unlimited in and out privileges for $43 a night. However, if you prefer to self park, I encourage you to still come to the hotel and get checked-in and our guys can point you in the right direction of the best places to self park. If you need anything further please let us know and we look forward to your arrival!
