The Ritz Carlton is a stunning hotel with breathtaking views. However, I would advise against spending your money on getting your nails done there. Unfortunately, my experience with the nail technician left much to be desired. Despite the high price, the lack of confidence and skill displayed in the service was disappointing. My toes did not look good, and the quality of the polish left me shocked. You'd expect a higher standard of service at such a prestigious establishment.

I stayed here over Christmas with my mom and my dog and the room/service was amazing! There were some glitches as they are/were a new hotel but the management here went OVER THE TOP to ensure that everything was corrected. The gym is an A+! I have been to 100s of gyms through work/travel and the equipment, layout and view is unmatched!! The valet was uber convenient and the service was A+! I'll choose this hotel again next time I am in Portland!

This is an amazing hotel! I had a great 1-night stay and the hospitality was amazing. It has a great location and the amenities are the best. The staff assisting us on our stay were very polite, professional, and fun to be around. I had a great meal in the main restaurant and I loved the infinity pool and lobby. This is a great place and you should stay if you get the chance.

I think this place is still working out its issues - it has the potential to be great, but it's just not there yet. We checked in (and were upgraded upon check in and given early check in) having Marriott elite status. The property looks very new and does have the luxury feel one would expect of The Ritz Carlton (but in a cookie-cutter type of way). The Ritz Carlton lounge on the 20th floor is great (with sweeping views of downtown Portland). The lounge offers a reasonable variety (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian) of breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert options at varying times of the day, and the lounge staff are very helpful. The breakfast at Bellpine was some of the best I've ever had. Why the 4* star review then? We were somewhat surprised that a 5* star hotel didn't have an EV charger on site (so we had to go off site to charge our EV). Secondly, upon check out we noticed child locks had been enabled on our EV (which certainly wasn't the case when we checked in) - which we've never had happen before in any hotel. Perhaps it was an accident by the valet staff, but we couldn't help wonder what other car settings were changed that we didn't notice.

If you are looking for a luxurious stay with top notch service, look somewhere else. We booked a club access room at $1k for one night as a late Valentine’s Day celebration. We live in Portland, just a few blocks away. We arrived at 3:40, having called earlier to see if an early check in was possible and were told “guaranteed check in is at 4pm.” We have Ambassador status 2 years running and have been upgraded to an Executive club room, but ok we are 20 min early so that’s fine. They tell us it will be a few more minutes and give us access to the Club so we can wait in style. So far so good. We go up and the club is nice, but has airport club vibes - it doesn’t feel lux or special but the staff here were very nice and got us comfy and settled for our…short…wait. Fast forward to 4:50 pm. ONE HOUR AND TEN MINUTES LATER, and FIFTY MINUTES AFTER “GUARANTEED” CHECK IN. No one has contacted us, no one has told us what’s going on - we were clearly forgotten. My husband talks to the Club staff and they call down, saying someone will be right up with our keys. 10 minutes later, NOTHING. We decide this is totally ridiculous and decide to leave and go back home. We stop by the front desk to tell them we are leaving and are told it will just be a few minutes due to some cleaning staff issues. (We find out later that actually, our room had been GIVEN AWAY TO SOMEONE ELSE, and no one bothered to reach out to us.) The front of house manager insists the room will be ready soon; we ask can you just give us any clean room because we have dinner reservations in less than an hour at this point and we wanted to shower and change first. We’re told no - they have NO CLEAN ROOMS available for us. After more discussion, she disappears for a few minutes and then tells us it’ll just be five minutes more. We reluctantly decide to stay, after she tells us they’ll comp the room for the inconvenience. Now I know what you’re thinking “you’re complaining when they give you a room for free? At the RITZ?” And you’re missing the point. The point isn’t the money that was or wasn’t spent. We were happy to spend $1k for one night because we expected a luxurious night with top quality service. Instead, we were ignored, forgotten about, our room given away and us not being notified about what was going on- they literally just forgot about us for over an hour after “guaranteed check in” time at 4pm. If we hadn’t called or come down, how long would they have left us waiting?? We’ve stayed at Marriotts all over the world (hello, Ambassador status) and this was one of the worst service experiences we ever had. Once we got into the room, it was very underwhelming for a Ritz. The view was great, but the fixtures and details were boring. The cabinets were low quality. The shower was mediocre, and they gave us a floor towel that had a giant yellow stain on it. Great hotel rooms are all about the details - the quality of the fixtures, the shower, having enough towel racks, a place to put your coat, easy access to outlets, etc. - that’s what makes a luxurious experience - clear evidence that the room has been carefully planned and thought placed into every detail. Here - everything is plain, boring, and mediocre. We will not be staying at this Ritz again, and seriously doubt we will stay at another Ritz. The JW brand has always provided us top level service around the world - we’ll probably stick with that or the Waldorf Astoria. O

This was my second stay at the Ritz. It was the most inconsistent stay I’ve ever had at a Marriott property. I am a titanium elite, and was floored by the rudeness of the restaurant manager to start. When I arrived, I did not receive my welcome gift(never received it) , nor have I received any credit for my two nights stays. The front desk, staff and valet staff were consistently kind and professional as they were the first time we stayed. But my recent stay was abysmal. Lack of professionalism by Jason, and poor communication and professional skills from him as the restaurant manager made it one of the most negative experiences I’ve had staying at a hotel. My husband and I brought this to the attention of the manager as we were leaving, so I’m hopeful that he will take action and rectify these inconsistencies. I will be returning again next month and will give this a second opportunity to re-evaluate.

I was staying at a nearby hotel and stumbled upon the ritz on my walk to lunch. I believe it recently opened for some reason didn’t show up in my hotel search. As a luxury traveler I am glad I didn’t stay here. 600 plus a night for Portland pleaseeee happily pay more than that for Hawaii. They had 3 bellman standing around in the lobby not doing anything yet no one opened the front door??? Even the 4 star boutique hotel I stayed at down the street had a doorman! Come on Ritz! Moving on to the spa it is located on the 19th floor with some amazing views! When I booked I was told I should come early and use their sauna and steam room and relax in the lounge. So I did just that and upon check in I was told the steam room was closed. Seriously? This is why I booked the expensive massage in the first place so I could utilize the other amenities! Their pricing is also murky- online it says $195 for an hour massage and then I was told $225 by the front desk and after I was charged $240. They also charge 22% automatic gratuity. Although it was an expensive massage my masseuse I believe his name was JT was excellent. I get massages every week and he was fantastic. Their relaxation lounge is very nice with beautiful views of the city. They provided spa water and some light healthy snacks. I enjoyed the magazines they provided too. Seems like they have some kinks to iron out still to be a true 5 star hotel and experience.

If you like to sleep in the dark, don’t stay here. Bright lights in the bathroom don’t turn off. Bathroom has sliding door with gaps at top and bottom and light streams through. Hotel knows about this issue but has no solution other than to “put a towel” on a hot light… so, fire hazard. The hotel is beautiful, but nothing is practical. The staff is inexperienced and indifferent. There were three bellman as I was leaving to go to another hotel — they said goodbye but no one opened the door for me. Food options are extremely limited; perhaps the shortest room service menu I’ve ever seen. Save yourself the hassle (and a lot of money) and stay somewhere else.

The Ritz Carlton Portland was one of the best dining experience I’ve ever had. The service was mind blowing. I went for my birthday with a large group of friends. I was warmly welcomed by Yaneesh who guided us to our table. He recommended us some of the chefs unique dishes which was the salmon crudo and the crab Berliner and even told us the story behind the crab berliners. You can feel that he was genuinely caring for us as he was continuously checking on us and ensuring what else he can do to make us happy. That was a “world class service “ which I never experienced any where else. I highly recommend The Ritz Carlton Portland as they made my birthday memorable! Thank you soo much Yaneesh, you are simply awesome! we will be back soon!

Usual guest of the Nines and was excited for this hotel to finally open. It is beautiful and what one would expect from a shiny new Ritz - the rooms and bathrooms are gorgeous (love the soaking tub with a view of Mount Hood), very comfortable bed and sheets, didn’t eat at the restaurants but room service was tasty. AMAZING gym, nicest hotel gym I’ve ever seen. One star left off for some minor issues they need to work through - for example twice in room dining forgot things, housekeeping ignored do not disturb and was knocking during a conference call and then forgot to refill coffee station, and biggest issue was that I had to chase guest services to order me a car to airport and they never got back to me despite calling three times (ended up calling an Uber).
