Beautiful hotel - the lobby and rooms are very nice! The staff was also attentive and polite. However, the location and parking charges were disappointing. There is an unmistakable problem here. The prevalent homeless population in the downtown area occupies the sidewalks with tent camps and open drug usage. I wish I could give it two-thumbs up, but honestly, I think I just feel sad about what I saw. That isn't something the hotel can necessarily fix, but it is definitely a consideration when deciding where to stay. Also, I didn't feel I could park my car on the street due to the aforementioned safety of the area. Hence, I felt stuck paying the hefty $55 valet fee. Given the circumstances, I feel the hotel should do everything within its power to assure guests of their safety - including parking. I'm very torn on whether I would recommend this hotel to a friend. If you must stay in the downtown area, you will likely face the same issues at any other hotel. …

Friendly staff. Clean. Quiet. Well maintained. Had a nice room on the top floor with high ceiling. Tastefully appointed. Enjoyed the breakfast and the bar service - had drinks there one afternoon. Friendly and professional staff all the way through. Would use this hotel again.

So disappointing. I am titanium elite senior citizen and was looking forward to our stay. Appreciated the pre stay upgrade and like our room. Thank you. On arrival asked for help with our luggage. Was told by the bellman he was too busy and he had just come back from a funeral and could not focus on helping. I am sorry for his loss but felt as an arriving guest with lots of luggage help would have been appreciated. Our room was not cleaned at all during our stay although I never placed a do not disturb card. I asked in the evening for some more towels. These were delivered. Our bill on checkout had restaurant charges for breakfast that were not ours. Corrected easily when I pointed this out. On leaving we had lots of wine and luggage. Again we are seniors. The bellman did not offer any help and spent the time on his phone. We loaded our car on our own with no offers of assistance. The bellman then came out and said are you finished loading and can I take the cart. Will we stay here again, yes. The room was spacious. The upgrade appreciated. For us, as a client we felt like an interruption to the bells and from desks day. Take care and stay safe. …

I come to Portland from time to time on business and this time on a lark I decided to check out Hi Lo for its Marriot points earning potential and abstract fanciness. The hi lo is downtown portland so know the neighborhood is what it is but that also means you're close to some amazingly tasty food trucks that are opened late. The hotel is nice but the staff really stood out to me. Sam at the front desk was a real rocks star and gave me tons of advice on everything from breakfast for the optimal time to head to the airport. She really went above and beyond and made me feel awesome for choosing this hotel- its rare to get that kind of service! So all in all i say 5 stars

Most of the staff I encountered, like Alex at the front desk, provided excellent service. The hotel aesthetic is beautiful and my double/double room on the top floor with tall cement ceilings was ample in size and tastefully decorated with a modern-urban aesthetic, like the lobby. The restaurant in the lobby bar was good but the honey garlic salmon and panna cotta was outstanding. We were there for three nights and two full days, spending most of our time away from the hotel on business. The only reason I will not stay at this hotel again is because of the location—I did not feel safe there. The hotel neighborhood reminded us of a zombie apocalypse, it didn't matter if it was day or night, it was bad. We made an attempt to take a walk during the bright daylight one afternoon but turned around after about 25 feet because we were surrounded by people who were doing/dealing drugs, yelling, camped out and pacing along the sidewalk and street. It's really sad. If safety is a concern for you, I do not recommend this hotel because of the location.…

The valet wrecked my car. Let's start with that. I didn't ask for my car, and they drove it down and wrecked it at 6am and I was using Uber in town, so not sure why they decided to drive my car. The dash cam footage was removed from the camera for the incident. Dealing with their insurance now for 2 months and they want do use wrecking yard / salvage parts on my car to fix it. Totally unacceptable. This hotel is in a very seedy part of Portland and it makes sense that they are using totally fly by night insurance that cant even cover their destruction of your personal property. I would avoid this place at all costs, and you're better off sleeping in your car than letting these people touch your personal property. Avoid it all all costs.

Beautiful hotel, with nice clean, modern rooms. We didn’t visit the lobby bar/restaurant but it looked cute. Unfortunately it’s in a pretty bad neighborhood. There was a guy smoking meth feet from the entrance to the hotel and more people doing it just down the street along with used needles, etc. This isn’t the hotels fault but you should be aware. I’m not sure if all of DT Portland is like this now or what. If so, it’s really sad.

The worst of Marriott. This hotel plays games with honoring status upgrades. I’ve booked here twice and both times they claimed suite wasn’t available. The first instance last year, I showed them the room was available on my phone app so they recanted on their claims of no vacancy and agreed to let me upgrade IF I paid an up charge. Then room magically became available. Absolutely contrary to the status upgrade program and undermines the very premise of the rewards system!! Been with Marriott exclusively for more than a decade, traveling weekly across the country and internationally. Needless to say, I filed a complaint. I decided to give them another shot today after calling first to be clear that I’m ambassador Elite and would only be booking if the upgrade was available. They confirmed and I booked. I reached out after booking using chat on my Marriott app and politely requested the upgrade. They offered a lower tier upgrade. I again politely asked for the suite upgrade and they then claimed it wasn’t available. I then communicated that I could see it available to book snd asked why they were saying otherwise? Response came back the same- not available. Here where it gets next level shady. I pointed out that as an ambassador Elite, if I booked it on the app right now, my status requires them to make it available. Seconds later it magically disappeared…. So it was marketed available for the 1.5 hours that this process snd communication exchange occurred (app open live updating), and when they realized they had lied their way into a corner, they took it offline. We chose this hotel when traveling for a work conference and couldn’t have been happier with our stay. The location was perfect and it was an easy walk to multiple areas of downtown Portland. It was also far enough away from the nosier nightlife. The check in process was smooth and everyone was very friendly. We used our suite night awards and we were booked into the Corner Lifestyle Junior Suite. The floor to ceiling windows were beautiful and we opted to wait 30min to check in to get a room on a higher floor which was worth it. We opted for the free breakfast as our platinum benefit, which was very good in the first floor restaurant/ bar. The do have a gym but we did not use it during this stay. Highly recommend and would definitely stay here again when returning to Portland.
