The Hilton Portland Downtown has received accolades for its prime location in the heart of the city and for maintaining clean and comfortable rooms, with guests frequently highlighting the tidiness as a highlight. However, opinions are split regarding the room sizes and noise levels, as well as the value offered, with some guests feeling the cost of parking and lack of certain amenities do not justify the price. While the staff's professionalism and friendliness are often commended, there are reports of slow service at times, particularly at the front desk.

Overall good stay. Rooms are updated to modern decor with nice huge 65” tv. Location is walking distance near many restaurants and shopping and all of downtown. Staff is friendly and welcoming. There is no free in room wifi, but after asking the front desk provided it complimentary and no self parking, only valet at $52 per day. I parked across the street at Lot 212 secured parking garage for $16 overnight on weekend and $21 on weekday. There is no free parking anywhere in Portland!

We happen to have reservations at the Hilton Portland Downtown, and it just happened to be one of the hottest days in Portland unfortunately. Upon arrival the hotel was closed, I was able to get in through one of the side doors and a security guard approached me and said the hotel was closed that I would be staying at the sister property which was the Duniway Portland Hilton Hotel. Well on the website it never said anything about this hotel being closed. After walking a short distance across the street there was an extremely long line of people waiting to check in. There were only two customer service agents checking people in, people behind me were mumbling about if I could get my money back or get out of my reservation it would be best. While waiting in line I was calling the Hilton customer service number to see if there is any nearby hotels that were available.

Unfortunately, there was none everything was booked up, by the time I reached the front desk the agent told me that there were no rooms available that I could check in at this time. I asked him when the earliest I could check in, this was around 5:30 PM he said he didn't have an answer because the laundry had shut down and they didn't have any clean linen to change or make up the rooms. He said he would give me a call as soon as a room became available. Now the next thing was trying to find a restaurant that was open and would be willing to service while it was 114°. We were able to find something in Vancouver Washington, but oh of course we had to set outside. Around 9 PM I hadn't heard from the hotel, so I headed back downtown.

The agent at the Duniway had told me they opened the Hilton Portland downtown for guest to check-in I was to head across the street there. Of course, there was a line thereto after checking in and getting the wrong room the first time and returning to the front desk to get another room for my family we finally settled in about 10 PM. In the morning we woke up above our air conditioner in the ceiling was a leaking roof with a small drip onto arc air conditioner I called down the maintenance and reported it, and they said they would send someone up to look at it. Upon checking out they asked for a credit card I told him I had already gave one when I checked in, they said they needed one, so I went ahead. After walking to the parking garage, I noticed that I had been double charged on the room I went back up there in the customer service agent said it should eventually come off. Well after a week went by, I ended up having to call the hotel back because they did double charge me. It was an easy fix they were able to credit me one of those charges. No, I don't like to complain a whole lot and I understand that he had a lot to do with the situation, I appreciate the patients that both the customer service agents had and having to deal with all the people during this heat wave.

Overall, the rooms are very nice looks like the hotel was recently upgraded or updated really enjoyed the standup shower in the bathrooms. I'm sure that the pandemic didn't help with the situation the hotel was going through, I may give it another try under different circumstances.

The room was sealed and even the remote had a sealer on it to prove it had been cleaned so we felt quite comfortable with the cleanliness of the room. Beds are comfortable and location is an easy walk to everywhere including the waterfront which I like to walk in the morning. The only drawback is the bar and restaurant don’t open until 5pm and we generally like to go in and get a snack or a drink whenever but that’s the current world. Highly recommend this Hilton.

We booked a corner room well in advance, but at check in time, our room wasn’t ready. I agreed to take a lesser room simply so we could check in and settle. If you are pondering this hotel, know that the king size rooms are very small. There is probably a foot and a half of walking space between the end of the bed and the dresser. Room air-conditioning functions well and is quiet. The linens in the bathroom and on the bed were clean. Pillows were feather and they did disturb our allergies. It would be nice to have a selection of pillows on the bed so that those of us who are allergic to even hypoallergenic down alternatives have a choice. The mattress was very firm and uncomfortable, at least for us.

Parking is typical downtown Portland. It’s valet or nothing. Valet an concierge service was fast and professional. Internet access was easy and fast. The TV was great and we were able to stream our own Netflix programs. Security was adequate.

I’ll refer again to the subject line - the customer service at check in was the only thing that saved this stay. Because our chosen room was not ready, Mary compensated by providing for our evening meal, buffet breakfast, and she comping our valet parking. She did her best to make it right. Restaurant service for buffet breakfast was swift and the food was good.

Where this hotel really goes wrong is in cleanliness. While the lobby is beautiful and well appointed, I cannot say the same for the rooms. The bathroom in our room was very dirty. There was human waste on the toilet seat. I did not photograph that. No one needs to see it. I did take pictures of the tile in the bathroom in the entry to the shower where dirt was obvious, even with my glasses off. The room could use a good carpet cleaning. The hallways need paint and the hall carpet should be cleaned or replaced. Please see attached photos of the bathroom floor and walls.

I can not recommend this Hilton property, which is unfortunate. They can do better.

The hotel is showing its age. Stayed there to attend a conference. The rooms are small (I stayed in two different rooms during my stay), beds, pillows are okay. Both were standard rooms with two double beds, but one room had a bathroom that was especially small. Small shower stall only, no tub. The bathrooms in the room and next to the ballroom have a bad smell (like from the sewer line). 22 floors and the elevators are pretty efficient. Parking is expensive, so unless you really need a car, don't bring one. Food for the conference (lunch, dinner) was very poor, breakfast was decent, but scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal and pastries should be easy to get right. A/C unit in the room was noisy and thermostat didn't seem to work when I tried adjusting the temp and fan speed. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, doing their best to accommodate requests even while the hotel was sold out. There are other hotels in the downtown area that looked good, so may try another one for my next trip. Disappointing since I'm a Hilton Honors member and would prefer to stay at a Hilton property, but will forgo for a better hotel value.

While the staff/service was great as it always is in Hilton Hotels, my overall experience in THIS one was mediocre at best.
Internet was non-existent in the conference room, they had the air conditioning on in the ballroom and we were freezing.
I had a really hard time connecting to internet in my room (It didn't recognize my Honors status.)
The food was awful at the restaurant and my Cosmopolitan drink was bitter and made incorrectly.
I had issues trying to get my luggage all to my room. Half it it arrived and half took over an hour.

The hotel was clean and the beds were fairly comfortable.
All in all, it was sadly an underwhelming experience at this particular hotel.

After our flights got cancelled at ONE IN THE MORNING after sitting there for hours with my husband and 8 yr old son, American Airlines put us up at the Hilton. Usually the airlines will offer the closest and cheapest but thankfully the lower end hotels in the area were completely booked out. After Ubering there and arriving at close to 2 am, it was such a plesant surprise to walk into a beautiful historic building and be greeted by professional and friendly staff. The room was fabulous and the beds were so comfortable and large, our family of 3 crashed into the fluffy pillows and didn’t wake until mid morning. I cannot think of one negative thing about our stay. Breakfast and restaurant staff were lovely. The next day’s front desk and concierge staff were warm and accommodating. Checkout was a breeze and they even held our bags after checkout so we could walk around their very convenient location. I will stay there again on my next visit as I would not mind paying full price. Worth it. I highly recommend.

Stayed there late August 2021. It's understandable they are understaffed due to COVID. I imagine room occupancy is low and that impacts things, but it would have been nice if just one of the three nights I had stayed there someone had emptied my garbage, changed the towels or cleaned up the place. Yeah, sure, I am an adult and I can make my own bed and I did find a place to empty the trash, but then why am I paid a couple hundred bucks a night if I am also working for them?

Yes, and I would suggest using it. There is a parking garage within a block of the hotel. If you use the hotel’s valet, you’ll pay a bit more plus an expected tip.
