Planned a 3 day mini vacation which included a visit to the Painted Hills. Originally planned to stay in Mitchell but there were no accommodation which allowed a dog. So, booked the River Bend Motel in Spray. It was a drive from Mitchell but well worth it. The drive along the John Day River climbs and winds and is majestically...

The River Bend motel is actually a ways from the river. It is actually on the main drag through Spray. Even so, it is pretty quiet, clean, and comfortable (even though the rooms are a bit small). Microwave and small frig are useful as the only eats are a small diner across the street which closes at 6 pm, no...

We rented the White House for just two of us on a friend's retreat and tour of the John Day Fossil Beds area. First off, Spray is a great central sleepy town to see all of the Fossil Bed "Units" and the surrounding area. River Bend Motel is right on the main road through town, easy to locate and not...

We've been going to RiverBend Motel and the White House for 6 years now. We have stayed at both. Each year up until now has been "shady" experiences. The owner(s) presence was 12 noon and earlier (2014 and earlier; had to use that phone if you needed the owner(s). During the 2nd weekend in July, Tim was there at least...

Rented the White House for one night for myself, my elementary school aged kids, and a couple. The bedrooms were a bit small, but clean and adequate, with built-in storage. The shared spaces (living room, bathroom, and kitchen/dining room) were quite spacious. The kitchen truly is fully stocked with all the dishes you would need as well as a coffee...

This was our first time utilizing the motel and we actually stayed at three "Retreat". Wow, and I mean wow. We checked in and it was dark but the next morning was something out of a serene fantasy. We saw pheasant, geese, ducks and mule deer within minutes of stepping out the door. The river was our view! The room...

Enjoyed a two night stay here. When I booked, the regular rooms were unavailable, so I reserved a two room suite for $30 more. My room was clean and pleasant. Decorated with knotty pine panelling. This is small motel in a very small town, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's not big enough to have a person sitting at a...

I called a month and a half before I wanted a room. I called and Tim answered but he said he was not near his reservation book,he asked that I call back and leave my number on his voicemail. I did leave all pertinent info and I never hear back! I waited a week called back and got no answer!...

I recall this incident, I was away from the office in a remote area & it wasn't practical to register a guest at that time. The caller called back & left a message with a phone number but the recording was bad & the last 4 numbers were slurred. We tried to call the caller but we were unsuccessful. If...

We stayed over here while visiting family. (They probably would have put us up, but we thought we wouldn't be a hassle to anybody.) The owners were very pleasant and very accommodating. We ended up staying in the house next to the hotel. It was very roomy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We checked out early...
