Erie is becoming a tourist town now so hotel prices are on the rise. The clarion was a good choice for a mid priced hotel. Our room was clean and had direct access to the indoor pool. I specifically requested accommodation at the front desk and it was honored. Breakfast was served buffet style around the pool area. It was... More

I have stayed at this property before and when I decided to visit the area again, I knew where to stay. I came to town for a little fall getaway, hoping to see the fall colors. The Clarion is located very close to Presque Isle. Check in was breeze, which I was thankful for because my toddler was ready to... More

Some issues early on. We had pre-pay booked 2 rooms, but I and my 89 year-old mother-in-law with dementia were delayed by a day because of Hurricane Matthew flight cancellation. "Oh, well....it's prepaid," was the response. When the heater was turned on, an instant odor of burnt wiring filled the room, setting off the smoke alarm. A hotel employee with... More

There is really much good to say--but the one bad thing brings it from very good to average. Let's deal with the good first: We were greeted pleasantly and check in was quick. Our entrance and room were both easy to find in a rather large complex, despite our being tired. Everything was clean...and therein was the problem. Within the... More

We decided to stay at a "nicer" hotel with a hot tub for two days when we hit Lake Erie to relax. We should've picked a cheaper hotel, because this one is all flash no substance. It's "pretty" but the amenities were hard to access and the indoor pool and hot tub were disgusting and the hot tub wasn't even... More

Quick overnight tripfor a change of scenery. Hoyel is well located but the usual good not great beyond that. Room was OK and reasonably up to date but not as clean as should be. Beds where decent Needs a bit of an update but a good value.

The Clarion Hotel is a Grand Old Lady in need of reconstructive surgery. There is not a thing wrong with the hotel/conference center that TLC and updating wouldn't fix. The place is very clean, the food is excellent, the service exceptional, but it looks like a brochure from the 70's. We arrived to find a wedding reception in full bloom,... More

The hotel was nice for the $96 non-refundable price. It is an older motel-style hotel. But multiple floors. The rooms are clean and decent. But nothing is great. I will definitely stay here again if in the area.

We chose this hotel because it offered a lounge and restaurant. It failed to mention these are not open on Sunday's. Had we known this we would not have booked a room. Staff was nice, room is dated, loud, but we wouldn't have minded if there would have been a lounge to have a cocktail in.

This place is nothing near the stock photos on their website. I've stayed in much nicer places for less money. The place is old and in need of major renovations. Furthermore, the bathroom in our room was not clean. There was a used bar of soap in the bathtub, not to mention leftover hair, if you catch my drift. The... More
