Olde worlde 17th-century inn located in the quiet village of Clifton, beautiful rooms converted from cottages with a small dining area. M62 just 1/2 a mile, away from it all yet close to everything. Beautiful wedding and function venue with private courtyard. We are located in an ideal place for touring the scenic beauty spots of Yorkshire, the historic City of York and scores of Country Houses and Parks. Leeds, Bradford & Huddersfield are all less than twenty minutes drive away which makes us a convenient centre for traveller's on both business or for pleasure.
Went there for lunch with my daughter on father's day. Had a few drinks in the bar just to wet my whistle, the Timothy Taylor's Landlord was 'on form'. There was a father's day set menu, I chose the king prawns with chilli for starters roast beef and Yorkshire pudding for mains, my daughter had wild mushroom soup and pan seared trout. All the food was cooked to perfection and plenty of it. Service was excellent, staff were first class and the most polite and helpful I have come across in some time, nothing was too much for them. I did note that nearly every plate went back empty which was testement to the quality of the food. The price was well worth it, 3 courses £24.95. Well worth a visit

As it states in the title. Highly recommend, the staff are extremely courteous and also have a sense of humour!! Food beautiful, allow dogs in the bar area, there is also an outside area. Beautiful 17th century pub in a great spot and very close to fantastic walks to take children and dogs. Definitely going back. Thankyou to the team at The Blackhorse Inn 😃

Stayed here for 2 nights for a sad occasion but the owners Andrew & Jane and all the staff were simply out of this world. They couldn’t be any more helpful, super friendly and extremely accommodating. The Hotel is in a beautiful quiet location with lovely Courtyards to enjoy food and drinks outside. The room was lovely, great name of Veuve Clicquot, the food was also fabulous. Can’t rate this place enough will certainly be going back there, can highly recommend it in every way, great value for money too.

Spent the Easter weekend here and had a marvellous time.Greeted by landlady, Jane, who made us feel most welcome. There is free and ample parking at this venue. The bar is cosy and well laid out although not that big. Has a massive range of gins to choose from as well as the usual beers and lagers. We arrived late but it was no problem to find us a table at 8.30 p.m where we were treated to fine dining. I had mushroom soup followed by chicken with gnocchi, leeks and peas in a truffle sauce. Lovely presentation and delicious. Our room was an executive one in the courtyard. Very roomy with a comfortable bed. There was a shower over the bath and plenty of nice toiletries. Tea and coffee facilities but no fridge. The breakfast was superb. Top quality produce and my wife especially…

In summary: a lovely old inn, quite quirky but comfortable. My room (courtyard) was small but adequate, very clean and with a lovely hot bath which I enjoyed as my ageing muscles were aching. Other critics have said the decor is dated - I think an old inn like this has character and my room was fine. I stayed on a VERY windy night and the creaks and groans from the old building were “interesting”....... The breakfast selection is comprehensive, with a nice selection of freshly cooked food. The best thing for me was the dinner - it merited more than the one rosette it currently has. I will definitely return here when working in Birstall next.

Gift voucher for dinner bed and breakfast a real treat. Food was lovely and a little different. Staff couldn't have been nicer. Warm friendly welcome. We stayed in the 'blue room' very sweet with its little door. Clean and tidy although the bedding was a little worn with some wear holes in the quilt cover. And the beam in the bathroom had some cobwebs in the nooks. Living on a very quiet road found that the road noise was a little distracting. TV signal kept breaking up .
