Just been here for Sunday dinner, I had the roast beef dinner. 4 smallish pieces of roast beef, slightly disappointing for a 6' 3" hungry bloke like me. Yorkshire pudding, roast potato, mustard mash very nice. Carrot and Sweet Potato with caramelised onion was like solid concrete. Made a comment to the waitress and asked her to mention it to...

We stayed here for one night whilst meeting friends for a reunion. We were given a courtyard room which had a double and single bed. It was spacious but there were no bedside cabinets, and no telephone which meant no means of contacting reception when we couldn't access wi-fi and when we had an early morning blackout of the lights....

After a long wet muddy trek over from Haworth, TWL reserved the snug area for the 29 tired walkers. Weve done this walk for the last 3 years and chosen TWL as our destination. Why....a stunning pub and restaurant Great staff, great food, great service. This is how pubs should be. I love this place. As an ex publican, I...

Booked at twin room in the courtyard - unfortunately the standard of the accommodation was very disappointing - brown stained plastic bath, mouldy sealant surround, large hole in woodwork covered by a randomly placed log, ants and low standard of bathroom cleanliness in general. Not what I would expect at any price let alone what we paid. The main area...

Ate here last December and booked in again with a group of friends. Told by manager when we arrived they they had more or less sold out of food!! What, on a Sunday evening, no Sunday lunch no steaks, no pork, no Cumberland sausage, in fact no meat dishes at all, what on earth is this place doing. Loads of...

Four of us went for an evening meal and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful of food we ate. The White Lion is a lovely, warm and welcoming place to eat, the staff are absolutely charming and the food delicious. Luckily we live only a few miles away and will be returning on a regular basis. The restaurant is very popular so...

We were visitors to the area and were in town to go to the theatre and looking for a place for an early evening meal - nothing too substantial - We did look at the Stubbing Wharf as it had been recommended but we rejected it as just another poorly lit pubby pub with pub grub. The White Lion not...

We booked the hotel based on dog friendly and got room 7 in the courtyard. The room is perfect for a weekend break with your furry friend. The hotel is a proper country pub and the staff could not do enough to serve, provide excellent service and look after us totally. Stay in hebden bridge and enjoy the cafes bars...

We stayed here with friends for the weekend and enjoyed our stay very much. The Hotel is starting to look like it could do with a lick of paint but the food makes up for that. We stayed in Room 3 which was a lovely large room with a nice large Bath, but at £145 per night we would expect...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The White Lion is a traditional coaching inn; with exposed timber and masonry, an abundance of comfortable corners to hide in, and always a warm and friendly atmosphere. Set on a riverside location in central Hebden Bridge, the inn has always been well known for fine country ‘pub’ dining, and its extensive choice of wines and real cask ales. All of which can be enjoyed throughout the year, whether that be in front of a roaring log fire, or in one of our scenic riverside cobbled courtyards. ... more   less
