It was a nice place to eat, food was nice but not worth the high price but nice atmosphere. Staff let it down by being quite formal and cold. Yes they were polite but not really friendly and engaging a smile never goes a miss!

Great place to stay right in the centre, easy access to many local walks and sights. We had a chalet overlooking the weir- very picturesque. Plus free parking is always a bonus! Food is excellent in the main restaurant/bar and it does get busy so book in advance.

We booked all 10 rooms here for our family to stay in while attending our wedding in Hebden Bridge. Everyone wanted access to their rooms prior to the usual 2pm check-in, as the wedding was at 3pm, the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating and everyone got access in time to prepare for the wedding. The pub is charming, warm and...

We came as a group of 8. The management and staff could not have been more accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. Every request was met with good humour. The rooms are a good size. If I have an observation it is that there are insufficient accessible electricity sockets in the rooms, certainly those in the main part of the...

Loved this pub and to be fair it still has a lot of charm, mainly due to the established staff. However, recent changes have meant a decline. The staff are lovely but when the new management cannot pull a proper pint (and you want a proper pint of cask) and even getting a pint of lager is a stretch you...

We stayed here just the one night and wish we'd had the time to stay for two. The pub downstairs is beautiful when we walked in we were instantly hit with the smell of the open fire, we were led up to our room and to be honest I wasn't expecting much until we entered the room. Plush, luxurious, cosy...

Lovely room and friendly staff but breakfast only served 8-9 on sundays! Great location in the village though the bar is very refined (perhaps too much so). Wouldn't stay again though it was a very pretty and comfortable room.

Visited yesterday for lunch with my son, we had been here before and was not disappointed. We ordered our food and drinks, I asked if they served small 20cl bottles of Prosecco, yes, they do, which I ordered. However, I was disappointed to see the waiter bring the drinks to the table from the bar, spilling the content of the...

Visited with my year old Lab, who managed to knock over two chairs and make a mess in the first 5 minutes. But the staff instead of asking us to leave, were lovely, and so understanding, and got us settled in a corner table. The food was delicious... We had the antipasti platter, which has lots of beautifully cured meats,...

popped in here for lunch with my brother on bank holiday Monday. First impressions were good, very smart dining room and reasonable choice on the menu. However we waited nearly an hour for our food, and when it arrived I was really disappointed. My cheese and chutney sandwich was all chutney (horribly sweet with no tang) and little cheese, and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The White Lion is a traditional coaching inn; with exposed timber and masonry, an abundance of comfortable corners to hide in, and always a warm and friendly atmosphere. Set on a riverside location in central Hebden Bridge, the inn has always been well known for fine country ‘pub’ dining, and its extensive choice of wines and real cask ales. All of which can be enjoyed throughout the year, whether that be in front of a roaring log fire, or in one of our scenic riverside cobbled courtyards. ... more   less
