Fabulous reception off the owners Fiona and Jeff. Lovely traditional room. We stayed on a Saturday night and found the room lovely and quiet. Great breakfast too. Brilliant location right in the heart of devizes town centre. Would and will stay again

My girlfriend and I stayed for one evening. We have stayed at other hotels in Devizes. The white bear has never before been an option when searching for a room in Devizes. So happy it showed up on my search. very cozy bed. No noise from the road or church bells. Pleasent traditional bar. Good English breakfast, tho other choices...

Superb home-cooked typically English rib-sticking fare (like steak and kidney pudding with veggies). Limited menu but we adored what we chose. The ginger pudding with custard to follow left us very well fed! Prices reasonable, unlike in the trendy places right in the town centre. and the draught beer is well kept. Friendly Francophile landlord and you eat in the...

Visited for Saturday dinner and received a warm, friendly welcome. We both went for burger and chips which was an excellent choice. The beer was also good and reasonably priced. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

Very welcoming owners who obviously care and take pride in what they do, nice rooms with comfy beds kept clean and fresh without loosing that classic English pub look, breakfast was good. All in all I would be happy to stay again

The Landlord is very welcoming the rooms appear to be in keeping with the age of the building, which suit the general historic appearance of Devizes The restaurant serves pub style food and delicious it Is An excellent pint of Wadsworth is to be had here but probably wouldn't suit lager drinkers

We have just arrived back from our 3 night stay in the white bear. We arrived and found it to be in an ideal location, lovely freshly painted, gorgeous hanging baskets and were greeted warmly when inside. We were shown to our en suite family room, a well sized room that was spotless, homely and very comfortable. Free fast wifi...

Good wholesome food at very reasonable prices served with a smile and humour. Really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere and traditional feel of the bar. Would recommend to friends visiting Devizes and looking for a tasty bite at lunchtime. Many white bears adorn the place. The toilets were modern and clean.

I was taking my nephew on a canoe trip from devizes and we needed somewhere to stay for the night. The White Bear looked a good option. Its close to the wharf area in Devizes and the town itself if full of pubs and restaurants. The White Bear is a traditional English Inn/Pub (the oldest one in Devizes). Landlord Geoff...

“The pub overlooks a very busy main road (unlike some roads though, it carries very little traffic at night). I don't know if they have any rooms which don't overlook the road, but it might be worth asking. They also have good double glazing, which helps. Note: this is a very old building with steep narrow stairs. It might not be the place for someone with mobility issues.”
